Bromelain is classified as a proteolytic enzyme because of its ability to digest proteins.
Bromelain affects protein turnover in the body including proteins found in joint tissue.
Bromelain can also enhance absorption of nutrients such as glucosamines, sulfur and bioflavonoids.
