L-Tyrosine is utilized for the synthesis of catecholamine neurotransmitters, such as norepinephrine, epinephrine and dopamine.

Dietary supply of Tyrosine influences the concentrations of the brain neurotransmitters NE, E and DA. Tyrosine is also the precursor for melanin (human pigment) and major hormones, such as the thyroid’s hormone thyroxine.
