View Full Version : Shoulder popping problem

When doing front DB raises I experience shoulder popping or something of the sort. It only happens in my left shoulder and does not cause problems in other exercises. When lowering the DB, it feels "tickly?" before popping and forces me to give up with the slow return. Something does pop quietly on the upward motion, but nothing that would interfere with the exercise. Happens right about when the arm is straight in front. Anyone had something similar or know what it is? Is it the bone sitting weird in the socket or a tendon rubbing against a bone?

I never had any injuries either when i was wrestling, but I had the same problem doing sholder presses as well, it eventually went away some years after highschool

it might be your rotator cuff. you might want to try some exercises that strengthen your rotator.

i had the same problem, it went away soon after.

How do you hold the DBs? Many hold them in a prone (palms down) position. Try a 'hammer' or neutral grip instead.

if you've had an injury it may be the cause. look up some rotator cuff strengthening exercises. look up the word "scaption" and you'll find a good exercise there, it helps to isolate the supraspinatus
