Currently there is a program circulating on Comcast SportsNet called Sports and Steroids. This is a channel that is primarily broadcast in the east coast. I did not find out about this until it was brought to my attention by a friend.

The show is essentially a town hall meeting with some college coaches, doctors and Jose Conseco. Towards the end of the program they mention that by searching for steroids on NFL.com you will come across a website called DiscountAnabolics.com. This was all shown in regards to how easy it is to find steroids these days.

My thoughts are the producers of this show really did not do their homework before making a poor attempt at exposing the accessibility of steroids. As a matter of fact, the entire show is full of holes and only gives a one-sided argument on a topic, I felt, they knew hardly anything about. At this specific point in the show, the producers were clearly trying to show a connection between the NFL and an online steroid distributor. It’s just another bullet-point on a long list of swayed facts fed to their viewers.

People are quick to link the word “anabolic” with “illegal steroid” and I turn out to be a drug dealer. Does this bother me? Only if it were true. Thanks for the free advertising guys!

I have no connection to the NFL. They simply have a “web search” on their site that is powered by some other search engine. You can search cocaine on their site and you are going to get some type of result. This doesn’t mean that the NFL is trying to provide sources to sites selling cocaine. They just have a search engine on their site and they are no different then Yahoo or Google.

From what I can find, this show is going to be broadcast multiple times through the 12th of June. So if you receive Comcast SportsNet, check your listings.

thanks chris, I'm in Mass so I'll keep an eye out. My mother and stepfather have accused me of using steroids on pretty much a regular basis since high school. They also mentioned seeing your site on my desktop.

People are ignorant - they always will be.
