Really what is the big difference???
I really preffer this exercise for quads (deads)....
but seems like most do them for back...
Just give me peeps opinions.... I think it is possible to do the dead with a form the focuses on quads... Peeps agree???

Hacks are way better for focusing in on your quads. Im not exactly sure about focusing on your quads with deads. Deads will work your legs, but alot of people use them for raw strength and for back thickness.

if you can feel dead in your legs your balance is off. balance should be midfoot, and totally back felt, as little lower back as possible.

i agree with voo, i never feel deads in my quads. i do feel it in the hammies though. mostly back of course. maybe try reverse deads?

I have no idea about the quads and deads. Sounds like your form is way off, not good for this one. Deads hit erector, hams and hips mostly. You want to hit the quads, do front squats.

If you really wanna do quads, front squats, hack squats, extensions, and lunges

I hear what you guys are saying.
I am purposely trying to hit quads with a "dead lift" type movement. I do this because I don't have a squat rack. And I can't clean and jerk enough weight to get a heavy squat going. And it is hard to do hack squats with more than a couple hundred pounds...
Plus my back is by far my strongest muscle group. I can pound it and never really get sore or a bad burn...
I am giong to get a squat rack soon, but just trying to figure something out in the mean time. Some way to get the poundage way up there for quads.
Any ideas?

Plus i am not talking about stiff leg dead lifts. I do those for hams mostly and glutes.
The movement I am talking about is basically just like a hack squat but with the bar in front of the body instead of the back of the body. I just can't hold on to the bar that well behind my legs. But in front I can get a hella good grip and rock out some heavy as deads...
Sure I feel it a little in my back, but not really that much... Not in my hams at all, not like a stiff leg dead lift standing on something to get that extra stretch...
I guess the question is do hack squats have to be done with the bar behind the legs?
