i've seen people use the DB pullover on chest and back day, and i just want to clear the air for good, which bodypart is it used best for, back or chest?

Depends on the form used, it can be really good for your lats.. OR your lower chest...

If you do them for chest, sit on the bench crosswise and sink your butt down, taking deep breaths on eccentric, blow em out on the con.

For lats/back, lie on the bench or do straight arm pulldown's

Arnold did them for his chest development, but i agree with b-nat. i feel it much more in my lats if i lay flat on a bench.

I've done them on chest day but now i do them on a shoulder or leg day because i never felt it in exactly one place( tricepts, chest, lats).

I use these as a stretch movement for the lats. On back day I like to start off with some pulldowns, once warmed up I do the DB pullover, and finish with some undergrip pulldowns for full range resistance. Though I use them for my back, I still think they hit the chest to some degree.

I dont really use this for chest or back. These really work well for the intercostals and the serattus anterior as well as stretching out the linea alba. BNAT hit the breathing on the head.

i follow everything there aside from the linea alba reference. I'm just unsure this is an affect from pullovers, or that you would even desire it. Stretching out a tendon (especially one that presses so compact to your body) just doesn't seem like a desireable outcome to me

If I'm looking to hit the lats, I'll use a straight bar, lying on the bench, arms slightly bent to relieve strain on the elbows, bringing the bar up to over the forehead, concentrating on the lats contracting.
