Just wondering what everyone else likes to listen to while pumping iron. I listen to heavy metal, ERRRRRRRR@!!!
Hearing the screaming and fast, heavy guitar pumps me up. I also visualize some guys that I would love to beat the hell out of. These bands include System of a Down, Linkin Park, Static-X, Dope, Powderburn, Papa Roach, Coal Chamber, Staind, Disturbed, Earth Crisis, Mudvayne, and some others
Favorite line:
Linkin Park- "SHUT UP WHEN IM TALKING TO YOU!!!"

It always depends on my mood. I use to bring my md walkman with me and mostly I listen to house/dancefloor mixes.

As I have posted before I listen to a cover of a Black Flag punk song I downloaded on Itunes called "No Values"
The best part is at the end where the lyrics are :
Don't you try pre-tend-in
(yelled)That everything is alright
I just might
(yelled)DESTROY
Everything in my sight
Really makes you wanna hit the gym and beat the crap out of someone, or at least the barbells.

I love anyhting where the band screams and the pace is fast. This motivates me to throw some weight around and get crunk. This music makes me wanna smash faces and hurt somebody so I take out all my frustration on the weights.

I am with Trans, I love hard, fast and aggresive music. Helps me zone in on what I am doing. Check this out, my wife bought me an MP3 player for my birthday last week, (a woman that supports a husbands weight training is worth her weight in gold!!) and so I uploaded a bunch of pantera, static-x, Alice in chains etc on there. I did my 1st workout with this, and I went up in weight on every single exercise, and hit new personal bests. Most notable was incline bench that increased 20 lbs... All I can say is that for me personally working out with tunes I really dig made a very noticeable difference, one that I was NOT expecting... :)

The MP3 player was born out of neccessity, I was vocalising evil comments about Jessica Simpson after coming home from the gym, complaining about having to listen to 'these boots' for the 100th time in a week, and attentive wife landed upon a great B'day idea..lol.

Hey trans, I have discovered that playing most tracks off static-x's wisconsin death trip cd are great for doing reps to, you can really lock into a groove with that cd..lol

Ok, I have an admission to make... I really got into weight training after seeing the Rocky iv movie. Years later I managed to dig up a copy of the soundtrack, and this plays in heavy rotation for me when I workout as well as all the metal etc... Sure, Eye of the tiger is cheesy along with some of the other tracks, but it always brings me back to the memories of Rocky and Ivan Drago training their guts out in the movie... (who both looked hella good too) This really helps me push through the barriers in the gym :)
Before I started doing cardio at the gym, I would use the bike at home, and my wife would always crack up when she would see me sweating to death to the eye of the tiger tune... lol Ahhh, it put me in a zone...lol

I recently decided I like to workout to a Tupac rap tune called "F-ckin with the wrong N-gger"
Lots of attitude in that one.

For all you boxing fans, Check out this rap; you can download it at iTunes:
"Second Round" K.O. by Canibus. Nice little aggressive rap built around some Mike TYSON talking trash. I guess Canibus was pissed at MC Hammer.
I really like when Tyson says "Man you got to bust that N-gger whole."
Also NWA has "Gangsta Gangsta" and "Srtaight outta Compton" to help charge you up.
And Dr. Dre with snoop dog have "Deep Cover." The hook on that one is "187 on a undercover cop". Fortunately for Max Von, Dre and Snoop seem OK with K-9 units (unless they are drug sniffer dogs I suppose)

Back home, I would agree something with a bit of edge and the bands listed by all tend to do the trick. On the west coast, I am so sick and tired on the song Beverly Hills by Weezer blaring - you figure that that would be the last song playing here. Arrrrrrrgh!

OK one more super agressive rap song by a band called the Ghetto Boys called "Still" You may have seen excerpts from it in the film "Office space" [FOX], a Mike Judge film (Beavis and Buttehead producer)
Anyway the hook on this song is "Die mother f-cker, Die mother f-cker, Still fool"
Unfortunataly can't downlaod this at iTunes. Well you can except they have it on there playing at half speed. Probably a bad sample rate transfer, so you Have to buy the actual CD album or sound track to Office Space.

Hmmmmmm...
thanks for pointing that out Wes
yeah I caught your PM. I will respond as soon as I get the opportunity. Your most recent PM I am aware of will require some response time based on how broad-based a set of questions were in there.

I listen to alot of live albums in the gym. I think hearing the roaring crowd behind the band is exciting.
Live albums by: Led Zeppelin, Rage Against the Machine, Aerosmith, and Heart.

I have 62 gigs of music saved on my computer with MP3 songs. I have 2 different MP3 players I keep in rotation for the mood I feel in the gym. One is hard and heavy. The other is a lot of house, and Rap. I never know the mood ill be in so I keep it all.

I really don't listen to music when I work out.
I like to hear myself grunt. . . as weird as that sounds, it gets me fired up knowing that I finished that last rep that takes an eternity to get the weight up, and let it all out.
I also like to focus on my breathing, so I guess music would distract me.

:)yea, for workout music, you basically need hard-hitting euro-dance music.... nothing else does the job really. Search around on iTunes for "euro :D club hits" or check this link: http://electricfilebox.com/tracks :o
