Ok baer with me, this is kinda hard to explain. I usually do DB shrugs but im mixing it up with BB and i noticed BB feels better. However, when doing barbell, should your shoulders be hunched in a little bit and then pull up? ( I dont rotate) Or should you lean back a little bit and then pull your shrugs back? This is really hard to explain in typing so if you understand thanks for any imput.

i think i understand what you're saying. When I do them I lean back a little to increase range of motion

when doing barbell shrugs I also use a smith machine. You can lean further back and get even more ROM and it doesnt rub against your quads

Not to change your subject, but I love dumbell shrugs. Doing those have really enhanced my back and traps. I've been going heavy (for me) 100's (Pyramids up) for about a month and I noticed that it's better for me to do more reps with lesser weight than heavy weight, with EXTREME squeezes at the top.

I also like db shrugs because it gives me a more range of motion and contoling weights made my shoulders stronger.

DB shrugs are by far my favorite, i just cant find anywhere that has heavy enough DBs. My gym goes up to 115lbs which i can rep 15X

wow! that's good. I just started doing 100's. I can rep it for 8. I don't like going heavy with those, i'm going back to my four sets with mega reps. My deveolpment works well that way. And you'd love my new gym. Dumb's go up to 140.

Shrugs are the bomb i love that look in the mirror after you are done destroying your traps.

I would agree with wedge that i lean back a little bit to and i hope soon that my gym gets heavier weights to 110 is the most that we have. Hopefully in the gym we can take the city into heavier weights

I use to do it with 95/100 because my fingers are not enough strong to load more. I do 10-8 and 5-6 sets. I've bought lift straps, so a few days and I can find out how it is with them.

yeah same thing for me wedg, my gym only goes up to 100 (GO BALLY'S!) so thats why i use do babrbell shrugs. i use straps otherwise i wouldnt be able to hold the 315 babrbell and shrug it 6x

I better step my game up with the shrugs then because the 100's kicked my azz! :lol:
