View Full Version : NitroTech: Lab Test Confirms Steroid Presence

Well, I just read this article and now im pissed. If I took any steroids because of MuscleCrap's Nitrotech, its on. Any of you guys heard about this?
MuscleTech sued for positive drugs test
Patriots running back Mike Cloud has found little solace since being suspended by the NFL for testing positive under the league's policy on anabolic steroids. Heading into free agency, he found himself with minimal suitors, considering a potential buyer was forced to beware of his four-game ban.
But now, Cloud finally has a vehicle to fight back in order to salvage a piece of his reputation and some of the money he was forced to surrender.
Cloud's agent Jon Feinsod told SportsLine.com that his client filed a lawsuit against MuscleTech, the supplement company that produced the product that caused his positive test.
The former Boston College star's unfortunate situation began when he took a basic chocolate-flavored protein powder (Nitro-Tech) while with the Chiefs, then subsequently tested positive for metabolites of the steroid nandrolone. Nothing regarding nandrolone appeared on the label that would so much as hint at such an addition to the ingredients.
The league tested the product and found it to be the culprit and confirmed it appeared to be an innocent mistake. But the NFL has a zero-tolerance policy that has helped clean up the league from illegal steroids, and Cloud was nevertheless hit with a four-game suspension without pay.
Making matters worse, Cloud hit the open market with this stigma and was forced to inform any interested buyer of the ban before signing. Every team originally interested took their business elsewhere.
Instead of cashing in with a decent deal that could have been loaded with incentives, or a decent bonus, Cloud could only muster a league-minimum deal from the Patriots.
"The problem is that people will look at me and think I'm a cheater or say, 'There goes the steroid user,'" Cloud said at the time. "That's all they'll know about me when they hear my name, and it isn't true. That's going to be very difficult to change that image on my reputation."
At the time, several readers e-mailed SportsLine.com asking for the name of the product in order to prevent their kids or themselves from making a similar mistake. The name of the product was withheld in case Cloud decided to sue the company. But with the suit now filed, the name can be revealed.
The product is Nitro-Tech, a protein powder displayed prominently on several vitamin/supplement stores visited for this story.
According to the suit, laboratory analysis of the Nitro-Tech revealed it contained norandrostenedione and androstenediol, compounds that would produce a positive test for metabolites of nandrolone.
Cloud's lawsuit claims MuscleTech failed to disclose the addition of these substances on the product label.
According to the FDA'S official website, it is the sole responsibility of the supplement company to properly label its products. Cloud's story only helps solidify the argument the government needs to make it unlawful to mislabel products.
According to Cloud's suit, this is not the first time Nitro-Tech has caused a professional athlete to test positive for anabolic steroids. The suit says independent laboratory tests of multiple bottles also revealed the presence of the two steroid precursors.
The NFL did not pre-warn Cloud and insists it cannot red flag products because of legal issues, especially if some products actually turn out not to be the culprits.
"I'm hoping that this lawsuit will accomplish several goals," Cloud said. "First, to vindicate my name and to hold MuscleTech responsible for its mistakes, and hopefully to prevent other athletes from having their reputations and careers harmed in this fashion."
The suit was filed in Cloud's home state of Rhode Island, the state where the product was purchased.

I took that garbage when I was 16. If that shit messed me up in any way, I think some legal action is gonna happen. Im calling them on Monday and seeing what they have to say. Im soooo pissed.
That is such BS not telling people what the hell is in their product, and to mislead so many people taking their "Protein" supplement. You know how mucletech is like every newbie's first supplement company. There are a TON of people who have taken this and are shit scared of creatine. Imagine what they'll do if they found out they were mislead by muscletech and are taking steroids. Guys, this is some serious shit.

I recommend CAUTION !
Don't believe everything you read. :|
Reading between the lines, it is obvious everyone involved in this litigation has an axe to grind and it would not suprise me at all to find out someone spiked one jar (or several) just to provide a legal recourse for a player whose career was adversely affected. I highly doubt Muscletech put steroids in its protein, and I doubt that would ever be proven in a court of law. Posting a wild dubious accusation on the internet is a lot more probable IMO.
The article posted has several lines like "according to the suit" or "the suit says". This is about a player suing for reinstatement and the Nitrotech suit may just be a means to acheive that end. A red herring. That is they do not expect to win, just use the suit as a basis to get reinstated or blame someone else for the positive test and nullify the official result until the suit against Nitrotech is resolved, while the lawyers delay that nitrotech suit for several years until the player has retired, at which point they can quietly drop the suit.
Here was the most important line in the article:
"I'm hoping that this lawsuit will accomplish several goals," Cloud said. "First, to vindicate my name ...."(so he can make more money duh!)
To summarize; first the player runs amock downing roids, THEN after getting caught, he hires a lawyer to save his ass and the lawyer runs amock inventing an alternative theory he knows won't be proven out to be true just to create reasonable doubt for a procedural hearing in an arbitration between the players union or single player and the NFL.
Nitrotech is most likely just an innocent bystander who got sued because the lawyer needed someone to blame in his alternative theory to the positive test.
In short, what do you call a lawyer chained to the bottom of the ocean? A good start.

Any big company will give you the standard reponse:
"We can not comment on pending active litigation."
If you are real lucky you will also get:
"However we intend to fight these false allegations"

I called again today. Waited 15 minutes, no answer, just some dumb lady computer telling me how to transform my body with nitrotech, cell tech, and how an unbeleivable body awaited me once i used meso tech.
After 15 mins i just hung up. Will try again later...

This would be somewhat of a shock for MT. Bastards telling kids what their gains would be with a "protein" powder. I really hope this isn't true.

So you see I was right here.
All it required was critical thinking, analysis and some old fashioned real world experience.
Somebody wrote something down that was wrong. Shocking. Absolutely shocking.
I figured it out and I didn't even have to call Muscletech to confirm it.
HMMM. OH yeah, rule #1 (Ghostwheel is always right)

HMMMMMMM seems like you cant do some research yourself. In the beginning of this thread I said "I HOPE YOUR RIGHT" im glad i was proven wrong. Who wants to have known they took steroids when they were 16. Get over yourself Ghost. You act like you know damn everything. I use to have respect for you, now your nothing but an asshole.

If you just always assume that I am right we will get along just fine.
I did not need to waste time to research it because it was OBVIOUS and plain to see what the situation was. Remember any 41 year old on the planet has about 20 years more experience than you.
The bright side for you is that you probably have more chance of hooking up with a cute college girl than I do. I am jealous.
Youth has it's advantages too as does age.

hey guys, i've been reading these forums for at least a year and never registered to post a reply, but today is my day. I just want to say ghostwheel, i've never met you, but you are awesome. I was thinking the exact same thing that you typed in response to trans isomer's nitro tech thing. First, this trans dude if FREAKING OUT. . .which is unnecessary, second, let's just say that there WAS prohoromones in nitro tech, ... oh, no!!! If there was it would be like a billionth of what you need to actually affect your body in any way shape or form, so chill out trans! Its not that serious. Third of all, just like ghost said, the odds of that being true are like slim and none... Oh by the way, Ghostwheel i wanted to say i enjoyed alot of your other posts, you are very knowledgeable and i appriciate someone who uses critical thinking, knowledge, and experience. So, keep on, keepin' on man!!!

Omigod!
I am actually going to say it.
I wholeheartedly agree with GHOST!!!
While I am NOT even remotely a MTech fan, I believe the sports industry has made the supplement industry its unfortunate scapegoat - this is NOT THE FIRST TIME.
ephedra allegations ring a bell to those guys practicing double session blazing August sun and no ephedrine alkaloids come up on autopsy. Additonally, which protein powder contained the steroids of Palmero's recent positive testing.
new sports industry mantra: It musta been something in the powda!
Fortunately, MTech is one company that has enough money to actually beat a suit like this.

As soon as the general public hears that an athlete tested positive for a drug, they get worried, and the athlete pulls the classic "Its from a supplement" line. Give me a break. This one was obviously false - nadrolone is an INJECTED steroid. It seems that people missed this detail.
Athletes have always pulled this garbage to avoid taking responsibility. Look at Raffy...and countless Olympic Athletes.."It was flax seed oil...I swear..."
Riiiiiiggghtt......I dislike MuscleTech, but still....

but on topic. it would not be surprising to find out that muscletech was up to something. they are a snake company. overpriced garbage. all the products they supply you can find cheaper and beer alternatives.
in nitrotech they did used to have creatine monohydrate. dont know if they still list it.
muscletech, fizogen, (now vpx) and vyotech are companies to stay away from.
