I spoke with the director of the chemistry laboratory dept. over at my school the other day about creatine. He told me that it mimics (I think its spelled) nephritis and can cause kidney failure. He said if you have any family history of kidney problems, to not even touch this stuff.
I was lookin at the CE2 bottle the other day at GNC and the label even says dont touch it if you have kidney problems, hmmm.....

i think thats bogus, I'll look more into it. Our cells are loaded with creatine, your cells store the extra creatine and use it when ATP is depleted. Thats why its good for short, explosive, usually anaerobic activities.

Anything is bad for you if you dont use it as directed. Alot of these warning are just precautionary...yeah it might cause kidney problems, but think about it they wouldnt put that stuff on there unless someone had already injured themself using creatine. if used right then you shouldnt have anything to worry about. If it worries you alot then dont risk it. FInd another way to bulk up. I have gained about 12 lbs. int he past 2 months and I dont use creatine at all. I am going to but I never wanted to before. Just remember reguardless of what supps youre taking...drink water and lots of it.

i think they put that on there so the ignorant public, who associated creatine usage with kidney problems, cannot sue them when they coincidently have kidney problems while using creatine.
The reason why people associate creatine with kidney disfunction is that creatine turns into creatinine when it is not used. Therefore, supplementing with creatine also increases levels of creatinine in the body.
when the kidney is damaged, it sends creatinine into the body - I'm assuming its a chemical messenger for some type of negative reinforcement cycle but Dinoii can eleborate on that.
So to sum up what i said, creatine is an indicator of damaged kidneys. However it is NOT responsible for damaging kidneys as some Krealkyln suppliers may claim.
