Drugs Used for Recreational Purposes

I was just wondering if anyone knew the effects that drugs such as percocet, vicodin, xanax & valium had on someone who is very active? I personally don't take these drugs, but I have a friend on my team who does and he also trains with me. Will it inhibit his strength gains? Obviously its not a good idea to be messing around with these on a regular basis, but I think the only thing that would get him to stop is if I told him the effects it had on our training. Just wondering if anyone had any info..

You could always look up the effects on wiki. Im sure they would have them posted there.

Wikipedia is sometimes a little untrustworthy. A few days ago they had posted Sinbad the comedian had died. He said the next day that he couldnt believe people thought he was dead. Look at drugs.com, its the best site to find out the side-effects, long term effects, etc.

well, i know a guy who has done these and many other drugs. heres my take on it, the ones you listed have serious "downer" effects, which on their own wouldnt have a crazy impact every once in a while, except for the pill hangover. but, therein lies the problem....... it is a pretty slippery slope with script narcos. has your buddy been missing workouts lately or is he still maintaining?

If he wants to be the best he can be...then drugs aren't helping him at all...but I have seen many guys that drink all the time and do lots of drugs and still look very good. Granted this could be a result of anabolic help.....it will have effects on them later down the road.

On the other hand...your buddy might go workout under the influence of some narcotic and end up busting himself in the grill doing something stupid.:p

If someone is taking a prescription medicine, while drinking..they're insane.

If someone is taking a prescription medice, drinking alcohol, and doing steroids...they'll die before 40.

Well my take on this, considering I used to crush up hydrocodones and snort them... would be that no they don't hinder gains, but they can ruin your life, and more importantly, your relationships :) lol
