Just wondering if anyone out there is ISSA certified in CPT. If so, please PM me, I would like to talk.

I know they arent one of the best out there. I would prefer CSCS. truthfully, I did it only as a resume builder because I have no plans to personal train and if I do, that is where using the CSCS will come into play. For those of you that don't remember, I will soon be a PE teacher. Only about 7-8 months left.

Hey egodog, I really think you should give CSCS a shot. A lot of articles regarding fitness are written by CSCS certified people and I think that would look better on your resume than a certification that anyone who sits in a class for a weekend can get, even if you dont plan on training. JMO

Partly agreed.
Perhaps you can join me in Vegas in June for ISSN cert for the real publication-stronghold should writing be something you want to take a long-term stab at. Fellowship into this program could get you more pubs, but it is pretty intensive and I am not sure what EXACT direction you want to take your life in outside of the PE teacher, however...I might too suggest steering clear from ISSA cert.

Unfortunately, I already paid for the materials. It is a little pricey, but I just need to get what I can, I want to make sure I get a job. I dont want to be on the market for a long time not making anything. As for CSCS, I had already ordered and have the new edition of the book sitting right next to me, and having taken the pretest without studying, I did pretty decent, but there is SOOO much to learn that it may take me awhile. The way I feel is that having ISSA and CSCS cant hurt, except for the checkbook. As far as what I want to do outside of teaching PE, I dont know. I have always been one to want to work up the ranks in one form or another, so CSCS will definitely come into play. I think Im just going to see where things take me, as I have to get a REAL job first. Eventually, I think I would like to get my doctorate in something exercise related, but I have to finsh my masters here this year, then Ill work on that.
Thanks guys, for the input.
