Hey guys, what's the difference (on lat pull-downs) if I pull the bar down behind my head as opposed to my chest, in front? What different muscle groups are being worked when you compare the 2?

front pulldowns emphasize the width of your upper lats and middle back, back pulldowns thicken the lower triangle of your traps. this is according to a book i read. i cant do behind the neck though because it hurts my shoulders too bad.

As a rule front pulldown have less risk of injury than back pulldowns. Staying injury free is one key to body building because injuries force you to stop lifting.

AWESOME Lat pull down exercise. FInd a double cable pulley. Then attach the two little traingle hand grips to each one. I Love it so much more then the standard Lat Pulldown and you really do not have a choice to go behind the back then. I do not advise it. It puts your body in a postion that I does not want to be in and thats a no no
