What are peoples thoughts on 2 tbspns of natty peanut butter before bed to help slow digestion? Also, what is your brand of choice?

I would assume it would slow down digestion of proteins and whatnot...but I like a spoon of peanut butter before bed. Also, I dont think brand matters too much because its all the same thing...(unless they add stuff in there)

Brent I just changed to skippy natty peanut butter, and absolutely LOVE the taste. I was using smuckers and had a hard time getting it down.

I eat peanut butter before bed sometimes along with a nice glass of milk. Of course I can't just have to measly little tablespoons though.:D

It doesn't taste like it is natural and it is only $1.63 at Wal-mart. It is pretty amazing!

Smuckers has 1g of sugar per serving, skippy has 3. Not enough of a difference to make me force down smuckers, if that's the only difference.

Seriously, unless you see true peanut oil separation, there has been some sort of processing and NO IT IS NOT NATURAL!

One thing to consider although it is a little pricey, is power butter. Sold here on DA. It has eggwhites added as well as flax seed. Tastes good if you mix it well enough(the oil is seperated). I like it. I use it once in awhile depending on current fundage.

bump for pb...
-my vote goes to homemade pb, most health or nutrition stores often make there own and you can get smooth or crunchy with no salt added. Just mashed peanuts and it tastes so dang good!

dinoiii has NOT liked flax oil for a long time....hehe, studies are finally catching up with me. You can likely do a search on this one.
I liked the egg whites and peanut butter thing ---- I thouht neat...then you said flax, and I personally said no thank you (no rationale to supplement).

this is from Skippys web site, is palm oil bad I really don't know too much about it, I personally love skippy's and so does my daugther we have a spoon full almost every night
here is what is says about not stirring it:
Why don't I need to stir Skippy® Natural?Skippy® developed Skippy® Natural using palm oil to eliminate oil separation. The palm oil keeps the natural oils found in peanut butter in suspension.

Peanut butter is a terrible butter. For an EFA source lean toward natural almondor walnut butters.
Also, be sure not to consume any carbohydrates, especially sugars, within two hours prior to bedtime.
I usually just slam a slow digesting milk protein shake and a tablespoon of Omega Twin oil before bed. ;)
I just thought I'd help you guys out. :)

I've heard the best combo before bed was 1/2 cup of 1% Cottage Cheese and 1/2 cup of cucumber. Protein and Fiber.

That would work seeing as how a milk protein digests slowly on it's own.
Fiber would also slow down the digestion process spanning out the release, but you're not going to get much fiber from cucumber.

good point. The brand i used would seperate - roughly 30% of the container would be pure oil. Refridgerating it helped keep it mixed though.
The more research i do into this, the more i begin to think that the whole "fats slowing digestion" is overrated. On paper it might make sense but I can almost gaurentee you won't notice squat from it, yourself.

How about some fat free cottage cheese and a crown of brocolli? I prefer it
