How much protein is too much to take in one sitting? Is is ok to drink 2 protein shakes a day with 60g each, or should I spread it out more? Thanks for any help.

hey bro I would probably turn that into 3 forty gram shakes, after a certain amount, your body can't use it and you end up just pissing it out. By doing so, it's a little harsh on your kidneys

I think I'll do that.

even 40 seems like kind of alot to me. I'd just go with around 25g each shake unless you are using a type of slow digesting/whey mixture

for those that feel 40 is too much, how do you handle or rationalize how your body reacts when it has an mrp? most mrps are over 40 grams of protein

most mrps (most good mrps) are a blend of fast acting and slow absorbing protien. The body can DEFINITELY handle 40+g over, lets say 5-7 hours. I don't think the body can handle 40g all at once within an hour and a half (pure whey)

i have searched around trying to find this out, and there is no evidence that says that the body can only "use" a certain amount of protein--i think the number was 50 g in an hour, but i dont really remember. after reading numerous articles i basically learned that it all depends on you. being weight lifters, our bodies can use much more protein at one time than a couch potato. immediately pwo our bodies can use more protein than other times during the day. so to say that we cant "use" 50 g of whey in an hour and a half is far to broad imo, and i tend to disagree

you have got to remember protein shakes cant only be your primary source of protien. You need to take in atleast 1-2 g's per lb. of your body weight. I like chicken atleast twice a day. But remember to get some red meat. Also make sure you are eating a balanced diet. Supplements arent the only thing that helps you gain. But hey to each his own do what you want but thats my take. Oh I take ISOPURE strawberries & cream (best tasting protein ever) 50g per and I drink 1 in morning after breakfast one after workout and 1 before I hit the bed. alright im outta here like a fat kid playing dodgeball.
