Good visual for my soon to be low-carbed tirades, eh? :D

Here's my gameplan for spring competition, I'll update this thread as time marches on with my daily hoopla..

Training:
Today was quads/hams.. I did an odd blend as you'll notice..

Warm-up: Squats 185lbs 2x30

squats: 225/315 3 x 20 each weight
405/425 3 x 8 each weight

hack squat: 3plates/4plates/5plates 1x25 each weight
On the hack, had heels together toe out like pidgeon toed position..

SLDL: 135/185 2x20 each weight
standing alt. legcurl: 50/60/70 1x20 each leg/weight

DC style stretching for 5mins after..

Current Supplements:
Dicana
JetFuel
Now Super Enzymes
Glucophase XR

Current Eating Plan:
350g protein
200g carbs
50g fat (mainly EFA's from fish, flax, black currant)

I may/may not map out everything I eat, I never write it down anyway.. I'll post from home and work how the days are going and such.. My only reason for the thermo/thyroid products now is they seem to help keep my blood sugar down.. Anyone who knows me knows I'm insulin resistant, so close to normal glucose= happy Peter.. ;)

Ask questions, tickle me, share your fantasies but keeping this on topic is the main focus.. :)

Today was chest/tris:

Start off with 2 sets to failure of calf raises with 3 plates on each side of the machine..

Warm-up- dumbbell flat bench 60/70/80/85 4x12

Incline HammerStrength bench- 2 plates @ 15reps, 3 @ 15, 4 @ 10

Dips- 3 sets to failure

Cable Crossover- 50lbs each cable 2x20

Cable extensions- 50lb 2x20 each arm

Kick-back- 30/35/40 @ 10 reps each

Close-reversed-grip flat bench 135 3x25

DC stretches for 5 mins..

Replenish by DS is damn good for PWO.. Reminds me of Xtend with Leucine and whey..

Ate today:

Meal 1: Sustain (2scoops) in 1% milk w/ natty peanut butter

Meal 2: 1.5 cups organic oats, 4 bananas, 3 cups eggwhite liquid scrambbled

Meal 3: 1.5 cups cream of wheat, 2 scoops Lean Dessert Protein in lowfat milk

Meal 4: Bison burger on spelt bun with the usual sangwich condiments

Meal 5: 2 scoops Lean Dessert Protein in lowfat

Meal 6: 2 scoops Replenish, 10oz grilled chicken

Meal 7-8: 1 cup cottage cheese with 1 cup sweet potato, same before bed without the sweet potato.

Good luck on your journey, B-Nat.. ;)

Not even dieting yet, and I'm tired of eating.. So far today the tally:

10 eggwhites
12 boiled eggs
2 shakes (whey, lowfat milk, casein)
3 cups oatmeal
1/4lb turkey bacon
8 pancakes (my special blend)

I'm about to eat another 1lb of chicken, help me!!

My delt routine tonight will look as follows:

warm-up: lateral raises 3x20

DC rest-pause: plate-loaded military press 3x15 set4 rest-pause to failure
GVT: bent lateral raise 10x10
upright row 3x15
shrugs 3x20

Weekends will be boring and uneventfull, doesn't mean I won't post..

Eating stays the same, a pound of chicken at a time is making me feel as though I may grow feathers..

Running out of whey, I need something to SUSTAIN me.. ;) hint..

Try the Replenish! To me it tastes like a slightly sweetened Xtend.. I'm adding another 5g of Leucine powder to it for post-workout.. Only 30g carbs, it'll be easy to get my carbs low enough to burn yet "replenish"..

If anyone has read the magazine, DS is having a transformation contest, unfortunately I won't be competing due to being on a timeline..

bigpetefox
January 8th, 2007, 10:32 PM
Routine today:

squat- 2 sets 5 reps (315/365)
hack squat- 3 plates for 20 reps
leg curls: 4 sets 12 reps (90/110/130/150)
bent dumbell rows- 3 sets 8 reps (65/75/85/95)
ez-curl bar curls- 3 sets 8 reps (60/85/110)
calf raise- 3 sets, 10 reps toes in/ 10 reps toes out/ 10 reps feet straight (255)

Had some Replenish afterward, chicken breast and sweet potato once I got in, and right now eating more chicken..before bed I'll have:

4 caps Now BCAA
6 tabs IronTek Amino Stack
30 mins later- 1 cup cottage cheese, whey/casein shake in lowfat milk

Hey Big Pete,

Ive seen you on many boards that i go to and also just bought some Replenish so im curious to see how it works for you before i get mine in! I also will be watching your diet that i must say is making me hungry just reading it lol.

this is kind of a random question Pete, but seeing as you have dark skin already, i was wondering if you use any skin products before a show to darken up like us poor pasty kids would have to use, or do you just oil 'er up and go al natural?

apologies all around for the randomness of this post

Eating a high protein moderate carb diet for so long, it actually helps me maintain, or even build muscle rather easily.. If I eat too many carbs in a day (over 200g) I'll get fat real quick.. Dieting is easy, contest cutting won't begin until 8wks out, tapering off my carbs until I get to 0-carbs 3 days out.. :)

Not random at all, and actually makes sense..

The lights they use in competitions are really bright, even Wesley Snipes would look my complexion under those lamps.. :D

I use Jan Tana competition bronzer and posing oil.. I don't need 5-6 coats like most have to with ProTan, it darkens me about a shade and a half or more if I get a base tan prior.. A quick shower afterward and I'm back to being my natural caramel hue.. ;)

ProTan looks like hell to use, and the color doesn't look natural to me, I'd never use it..

another tanning product related question for you pete........ is there a reason in particular that bodybuilders use rub on sunless tanning products instead of airbrushing color on, like beauty pageant contestants do? it would seem that you could really nail down a color if you did airbrushing instead of the trial and error rub on stuff

Dude, it's all personal preference.. I'm dark enough to not need Protan, and I personally don't like the color it makes some people.. Individual results may vary.. ;)

Today was good.. Waist is starting to lean out abit, still tirelessly pounding protein.. Strength is still up, then again there's a good reason for it.. ;)

Did an odd rotation on chest, delts, and triceps.. Bench is up, I normally don't do reps with over 335, but I had 365 for 5..

so why do u wait until 8wks out to cut?

It doesn't take me too long to dial in.. My first show I dieted for 4 months prior, came in flat and didn't place.. Second show I placed 6th, yet I had a better time figuring out why the first time sucked.. Those reasons? Here:

1. My prepguy at the time was an idiot who felt that anyone should benefit from the same diet.. Yeah, like I get bulking advice from the fat guy in line at Wendy's who hasn't seen his dick in 5yrs.. Pick any fat guy, I'll wait..

2. Prepguy again, had me on near-0 carbs for the last 2 months.. Yes, 2 months without so much a bagel..

3. WAAAAAAAYYYYY too much cardio, thanks to the culprit in 1 and 2..

My first NPC show I just decided last minute I wanted to do it, happened to be 8wks out.. The ol PrepGuy didn't think I'd get in shape in time and felt I should wait for a show a year later.. I told him to go pump the neighbors cat, and I dieted.. Placed 3rd, and sent him a pic of how I looked after prejudging.. Needless to say, he's not giving me advice anymore, and all I'd ever say to him is "Grow a chest, maybe you'll beat me..".. ;)

so i take it you are your own prep guy now. have you ever thought about or actually done any prepping for anybody else?

lol about the fat guy teling you how to do your stuff, some lame ass tried telling me how to do my sumo deads. of course he looked like it was the first time he had ever seen weights :)

you got any pics from that 3rd place showing? i watched your video from the naturals show in 2001 (if i remember correctly) and am interested in how different the two looks are

sweet, u proved em wrong, well, its only wk2 for me and i ate a piece of chocolate las night, felt guilty, but i've been losin weight and without cardio, hopefully its mainly from fat, did u find that u lose more fat through cardio or just diet alone? and with cardio what were u doing for it (i.e. incline brisk walk, speed intervals, and what machines)?

I NEVER understood the idea of having a prep guy. But it seems like everyone has them now. I have a friend that is a national level fitness competitor with an exercise science degree. She was telling me how much her "trainer" charged here for a cookie cutter diet and training template. I told her she was out of her mind. You have all the background you need. You feel the need to have a prep guy. Call me your prep guy and save yourself $500 dollars. Want to talk something out, we can do it over coffee. I will even let you buy so you feel you paid for the knowledge Needless to say she won her next show LOL

No one knows my body and what works and doesnt work for me better than ME!
So needless to say-I am my prep guy!

Good luck in preparation Peter

In that first NPC I did, I weighed 173lbs.. That natural show I weighed 165.. I lost my digital camera that same night, so I had to hunt down someone who had a pic with me in it.. Needless to say, it's been awhile, and I can't find the disc this girl sent who got my pic with her then boyfriend.. Of course I hit it.. :D

I've helped people with little dietary things here and there, but I train mostly people in their 40's who wanna look like they did when they were in college.. Besides, they pay more and are way more motivated than most my younger clients were..

Diet alone hands down did it for me.. Cardio made me feel like I had no energy left for anything else, so I just increase intensity when I lift, and rest between sets was cut bigtime.. I do like using the recumbent bike, takes pressure off my lower back..

TGIF!

Already tired of eating, but I can't stop! Switched from JetFuel to ALRI's Venom Hyperdrive, upped the Dicana to 6 caps.. Later today I'll do this routine, it's an adapted form of an IronAddict routine, for those who may have heard of him..

Deadlifts- 2 sets x 5reps
Leg Press- 2 x 10
Lat Pull-down- 4 x 6
Dumbbell Curl- 3 x 8
Calf raise- 3 sets 20 reps in 3 positions: toes in, out, straight..

Monday was fun.. Just gettin' the eating in more of a format as always, cleaning things here and there.. Workout was insane lastnight..

incline bench (hammer strength)- 3 sets 3 plates/4 plates/5 plates @ 5r each
dumbbell bench- 4 sets 65/75/85/95 15r each
shoulder press (hammer)- 3 sets 225/275/305 @ 12r each
skull crushers- 2 sets 110/115 10r each

Strength is still going good, I shouldn't get too weak by time I diet

I'd like to thank USP Labs for hittin' me with some Super Cissus and Anabolic Pump to add to my diet arsenal.. I'll take 5 cissus and 3 anabolic pump daily with food.. I may even increase carbs abit with the AP dose to see how it works, since I liked Yellow Gold alot..

I do a modified version of almost everything, I never follow routines to the letter.. Training almost 18yrs you get stubborn.. ;)

I cut the volume since my carbs are lower, and the reps are back so I can get the most out of the movement instead of frying my CNS pounding away with 10 reps of someone else's max..

whats the waist at?

I weighed in today as a random weigh in at 163, what the hell? I think my body decided to eat itself, but I'm def. hardening up, oh and props to Axis, I def. got my game face on with Hypertest, why I didn't use it from the beginning of my cut? I don't know, but my body has adjusted to my deficit and my strength is goin up a little, and my sex drive, all I can say is "give me a damn cape, cuz I'm back, wooooooo"

bigpetefox
March 1st, 2007, 10:17 PM
Down to 204, starting to cycle my fat intake.. Yes, I said fat cycle.. ;)

Once I see how this works for me, I'll post my findings in an article.. So far my waist is tightening pretty good, still got some on the belly button to move..

Cardio starts 3/12.. :(

Progress pics will be posted, I need one that shows how much my gut has shrunken..

bigpetefox
March 5th, 2007, 11:52 PM
Damn good workout for Monday.. No loss of strength, but I'm not pushing it.. Soon the fat intake will rise, and the carbs will drop to a point that'll not drive me nuts yet fuel me for pre/post workout..

Hey Pete,
Im also dieting for a show in May, glad to see there are other on here who actually compete.
Your looking really good, I like your workouts, original. I do have a question though, how do you hit your inner quads? I have pretty good development aside from that, and I just want some ideas.

Also, what is your view on diuretics? Do you use them? If so what brand and what dosages have worked for you?

bigpetefox
March 6th, 2007, 07:53 PM
I feel inner quads more with a wide stance, plus it also hits the hams abit harder.. I'm more workin' on the teardrop so I tend to warm-up, then do at least 2 of my worksets with my heels close and feet pointing out to the sides.. :)

Never used any hard diuretics, mostly herbal products.. My favorite so far is a toss between SAN's Shredded, and MHP's Xpel.. Xpel may be better 'cause you don't need 7 caps 3x a day..

I carb up Friday night and Saturday morning.. The night prior it's clean complex carbs, then the day of is junk.. This year to try something different, I plan to carb up with the same amounts both days.. I've seen guys carb up that Wednesday until Friday, then no carbs Saturday morning.. Not sure they got what they wanted..

One more day of this torture, then I change the routine abit.. :)

zero? damn, why? and how many weeks will you be out from your show?
I try not to peak too soon, but close enough to when it'll matter.. Besides, with the water that I'll lose, it'll give me 4wks for my skin to tighten up, and with my EFA's high it'll spare muscle pretty well.. :)

I got a friend helping me with the drying regime, he gets his wife dialed in for shows, and since all he's doing is telling me how much potassium to load and such, it'll be easy enough.. :D

B-natural
March 15th, 2007, 11:26 AM

First day very low carb intake, not bad just hungry.. I take 14g flax oil in the morning with breakfast, then another 14g fish oil before I leave the house.. bigpetefox

how many g's of fat is that total?
14g just like the bottle says.. ;) So 28g with breakfast and lunch..

That's not counting the many EFA softgels I suck down, either..

B-natural
March 20th, 2007, 12:26 PM
so 28, plus maybe 10g in efa's, plus naturally occuring fats, hmmm guess thats not as much as it sounded

bigpetefox
March 20th, 2007, 12:46 PM
I get in roughly 35g EFA's with each meal thru liquids and softgels.. Example:

Breakfast: 14g flax oil, 14g fish oil, 5g coconut oil softgels, 5g hempseed oil softgels.. That's actually abit more, plus my digestive enzymes have plenty of lipase.. ;)

Lunch and dinner will be the same.. Also, I forgot to mention I eat alot of brocolli, spinach, cauliflower, and carrots with my proteins, and I supplement with an organic fiber..

sounds like a good plan bro. A quick q for ya, how many days after the show do you usually pig out, I've been piggin out since the show and I think its mainly extra water retention causing a somewhat sloppy look, but I do not want to go overboard and completely lose the cut look. I will go back to my diet soon, but I just can't stop eatin the junk, it tastes too good. the reason i ask is cuz i hear a lot of ppl pig out for about 4-5days after the show and are fine, any thoughts on this?

I usually eat crap for a week or so after a show, it's mostly water weight brother.. It's not that easy to put on fat in a matter of days, just do cardio while you binge so you burn the extra calories.. ;)
