I am a 38yo paramedic and work 24hr shifts. I have alot of trouble cutting bodyfat. Resently on my days off I wake up at 3am and want to eat and just a protien shake is not enough. In my line of work I talk to MDs all the time. One doc I told this to gave me a lot of samples of Wellbutrin xl. Its a antidepresant they give people who want to quit smoking. I asked about what reactions it may have with my supp like creatine, no, tribulus, zma and alot of other things he just said I should stop taking all that crap its prob toxic. Well its really something these guys would prescribe allmost anything I wanted for pain or sleep, infection or erection or just something new on the market the drug rep left for samples but if I wanted something for muscle enhancement, forget about it! Well I guess what im saying is when talking to anybody in the medical field take there advice with a grain of salt. Allways talk to someone else stay informed and make your on decisions.By the way if dinoiii is or is not an MD he has alot of knowlege of supp and medicene and I like reading what he has to say.

paramedicphil, I agree completely with you. My wife is a OB doctor, when I first met her almost 7 years ago I was working at GNC. We have never met eye to eye on supplements. During her med school years, I tried getting her to take something simple as a multivitamin....you would of thought I was trying to get her to take a illegal drug. She only started to take a multi (pre natal) when she thought about getting pregnant.
She and I fought over the idea of me taking creatine, stating that she wouldn't be surprised if my liver stopped functioning at some point because of it.
I think the real problem (seeing my wife go thru med school and Residency is that they learn about what the problem is and how to help correct it by either surgery or prescription drugs.
My wife will be the first to admit that she knows very little in regards to nutrition. I don't understand why Doctors get very little if any real training in regards to how to eat right.
Anyway, the point is that we learned that she has her world and I have mind. However, I am the only one that believes that both worlds together make the most sense.
