What does everyone use for hair removal? I'd like to know of any tips or tricks that yield the least amount of razor bumps or non-shaving techniques that don't burn or cost alot. Thanks in advance.

Try Hot Wax. Painful but effective. Or try any of the lotions, creams and sprays designed to loosen up hair follicles and let the shaft slide out with wipe assist from a moist towel.

Waxing lasts the longest- hurts but extremely effective; and you only have to do it once a month. If your hair is long to start with though trim it up before you wax it off (it wont hurt quite as much). Oh and btw pay to have someone else do it, this is not the kind of torture you should inflict upon yourself.
A guy I know ;) prefers nair. This tends to work better on medium textured hair- not too fine and not too coarse. Personally, I find it to be a pain in the ass and you smell like the chemicals for a while afterwards. Some people do react to the chemicals so there is a chance of breakout but very minimal. Results last for about 2 weeks depending upon how much testosterone you have running through your system.
Shaving- ugh. Results last 2 days tops. And if you shave that often (not your face of course- different type of skin- different type of hair) you will break out in a mean case of razor burn. Don't do it.

I'm pretty much a hairy guy, who has thick coarse hair on my head and pretty everywhere else. Typically, what does a body wax cost? Has anyone tried the body building type hair removers? I figure I could see more vascularity on my legs and arms if I lost the hair. As it is, I use hair clippers on my pelt of a chest every two weeks or so.

Full body is about $100. But if you do it once- then upkeep with cream removers is a lot easier. If you're just looking to get rid of the fuzz on the arms and legs then I'd just stick with the creams. If you want to be the hairless wonder then go for the wax.

Thanks for the advice, I may look into the fullblown hairless wonder job in the spring. For now, I may just experiment with chemical hair-removers of the non-Nair variety.

Nair for men works pretty decent. It's cheap and you can get it at pretty much any store.

Agreed. Why do you suggest "non-Nair" variety solomon?

I seem to remember back in 1999, when a friend of mine tried women's nair on his chest with less than friendly results. I never thought something in a pink bottle could be so destructive:eek:

I have very think hair (Greek/French). I've tried pretty much everything, here's how I personally rank them - from Worst to Best:
WORST - Epilators
This is basically a system of rotating tweezers that almost looks like an electric razor. It takes a long time to do your whole chest/body, and all in all I'd say this is the most painful and longest option.
BAD - Waxing.
Pretty painful but bearable. I broke out into hives from using itas the waxing even drew blood from my pores. Not something I'll do again.
OKAY - Nair for men
Only removes maybe 60-70% of the hair from my body, meaning I have to shave again anyways. I also react to the product if I leave it on for too long
GOOD - "NADS"
[i]This is a gel-like substance you spread on your body like Nair. Mine came with a little rubber tipped handle you use as a squeegie to remove the hair once the process is done. Definitely removed more hair than Nair, but many stragglers were still left behind for me to shave. I feel as though this lasts longer than Nair too
BEST - Shaving
While the results last the shortest, I have to stick with good old shaving. Pain in the ass but still better than some of the painful options, or the gels that lead to me having to shave again anyways

There you have it - Hot Wax is #1 choice! Followed by dipilatory creams for maintanance. And while you're at it, might as well get a "Brazilian." LOL :D

Nads works by about the same principles as wax: you're supposed to use cloth strips to remove the stuff (same as wax) and it still hurts. UN-like waxing tho Nads leaves behind a whole lot of hair for clean up. Personally, I'm not a fan and being a girl I've had to deal with this stuff for the last 12 years, so I've got a bit of experience. Basically, if you don't like to shave (like me) it's a matter of pick your poison. Whatever you do there will be some draw-backs.
I do agree with an earlier post tho- epilators blow. These suckers hurt like mother, it's like taking waxing and making it a much loooooooooooonger drawn out process. No thank you.

Wax is best IMO, creams seem to irritate the skin, shaving only last a couple of days.

i saw a sign at the dermatologist advertising for lazer hair removal thats permanent. theres also a prescription cream that permanently removes hair as well. im sure the lazer thing is $$$ but if u figure up the cost of razors, wax, and what have you it egualls out

shaving is pretty damn cheap, it's rough around joints as the heat causes irritation of the skin and is easy to get a rash or the razor bumps

I buzz with a trimmer, and use the Mach3 when it's showtime.. I'm not very hairy to begin with, so it takes me 5mins to get it done.. ;)
