I thought this would be a fun subject, What really ticks you off when you are in the gym?

Personally Im ready to sling some weights when people just butt in on a machine without asking if they can work in.

when little teenagers think they are jacked up b/c they fill out their medium sized wife beater and have abs at 150 lbs

Just people doing exercises wrong in general. People who load up the curl bar and sway thier backs like crazy, or let the BP bar bounce off thier chest.

people that do like 80 exercises on a machine, say they will be done in a second not wanting you to work in with them.

or people that take all the damn dumb bells and sit them in front of them, that really pisses me off

I hate when a guy loads a machine up with weights and then goes to the water fountain to fill his jug up and of course he has to stop by the cardio room.

I absolutely hate when guys walk around with their arms way out to their sides. Acting like they are so big thats how their arms sit naturally.

haha those are all good. i think when i see someone usually a teen posing in the mirrors. you know i just want to kick them so hard. if i saw someone making out id want to kick them too, i couldnt work out around that crap. but i think my biggest problem with our gym is theres no air ventilation up stairs. we have fans that just push around the carbon dioxide but no frigen fresh air.

ahhhh, i have been wanting to post this for a while, i always see this guy at my gym and he pisses me off. you probably have one like this at your gym, i wish i could go up to him and just punch him in the face.

description: always wears the same thing----red and white shoes with tall white socks-nearly up to his knees. red shorts, cut off white shirt. always has his ipod strapped around his arm. hair always gelled and dyed blonde. always chewing gum. i swear he tans (you can tell he doesnt have the naturally darker skin tone, but is always tan). walks around like he owns the place. the only thing i ever see him do is cardio (but i know this cant be it because he is actually pretty cut and big), but i have honestly never seen him lift a weight.

The guys that pile up and start a chat group around the one machine you need to get to
Also...lol, the guy who weighs 120 wearing tight ass spandex sportin his fresh new haircut, barbell presses weights too heavy for him twice, puts them down, looks around like "hey, i just lifted something heavy, im the man" and walks around the rest of the time..

Its funny - I was the post-call doc today - i.e. - half day (off at noon) and went to the gym early....I thought back to this post and saw pretty much about one of everything you guys mentioned.

I think those that curl in the squat rack is something upsetting to me though.

I agree with EDAWG146, the cell phone user. But lets get it straight.....they are on the treadmill...talking faster than they are walking. Total calories burned are 20....19 of which came from the mouth.

I work part-time at a small gym, so I see a lot of little things that tick me off. I don't mind the young guys posing in front of the mirrors. If it helps motivate them, good. I enocurage members to watch themselves in the mirrors to help keep correct form. But if they're trying to show off, I just chuckle. Since I like to keep a neat gym, mostly for safety's sake, my main pet peeve is people who don't put the dumbbells or plates back on the racks or back on the floor stacks. I figure if you can pick it up from one place, you ought to have enough sense & courtesy to know how to put it back down in the same place. Our gym is rarely crowded, so no one really has to wait for any of the machines, unless the cardio machines are busy. And we have a note put up to limit cardio time on each machine to 20 minutes if the gym is busy. I try to correct anyone with bad form, but some don't care to listen. I'm always diplomatic, tho, with my "suggestions". I hate cell phones in the gym.

this is not so much a peeve of mine, but something that really does make me truly upset-in a sad way. this girl at my gym is soooooo skinny, she looks very, very unhealthy and anorexic. i dont know how she can even walk. anyway, i always see her in there doing cardio, treadmill, bike, eliptical. i feel like just telling this girl enough is enough, you need to put on weight.

Those young guys piss me off, who think that the gym is some kinda playground or a hang out place. They spend too long time at the gym, lift too heavy weights and of course after a week of training they have sleeveless t-shirts on, walking around in groups and just chatting.

We have a couple of girls that are the same way. You can see their ribs and bones...it looks sooooo bad, but I think these girls really think they look fine. My believe is they need to get help.

Kris
Our gym is right beside a very large High School, so needless to say there are times (6 to 8) that the gym is filled with high school kids. To my surprise though these kids workout harder than anyone else since I believe they are all in sports...or at least look like they are.
The problem comes from the "after college" crowd with a small number of men trying to find a single girl that might be half way interested in talking to him. I also hate the women who wear very little, walking with a strut and never break a sweat when working out.

LARGEST PET PEEVE THOUGH
It's amazing how when some guys work out and there LATS are extended out when they are walking around getting a drink of water or weighting themselves......put be a muscle spaz.

Ok, I'm done now.....I better make sure I don't do anything above at the gym now.

Anyone who train hard is very welcome! But, I too was young and I think I can think that way. These kids think is to be big is within a few weeks. The way how they do this, is pretty good example how not to do this. Because that's the way how people get hurt, become overtrained. This is not my problem, but I had to reschedule my day and gotta go to the gym late night, to have enough space.
