i see what you are saying, but the spotters job is really to catch the bar. Protect the lifter..and of course help up if lifter can not lift it.
Why should the spotters hands be under the bar if they are not going to catch it?
Sorry,..i just got a little mad there :) ... being in powerlifting and all i put ALOT of faith in my spotters. i'd rather NOT have a spotter than have an inexperienced one.

Amen. I hate spotters that are not paying attention or who are 5 feet away...

sorry about the late reply i have not been on in a while. I see what you are saying. I am not into power lifting and i am used to a spotter just giving a fingers help to get the weight up.lol I understand though and think that they should have been ready. One time i had to set the bar on the ground while doing military b/c i starting struggling and my spotter was over at the water fountain. lol

mmm...@455lbs with two young looking kids spotting him...WTF? Ive seen it slip like that when the ass used a thumbless grip but he had his wraped around tight. looks like his left wrist broke over and caused the bar to pop out. ouch!

I agree, I don't think the spotters looked at all experienced or even strong enough to keep it from falling on him.
