GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It's worth your consideration.

Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves! by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them, BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace...not the sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How?
Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just! stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and
Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point… keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pas! s this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it.
THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all! (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people. How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together, as a group with a united front, we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. PRICES ARE WAY OVER INFLATED, WE KNOW IT, THE GOVERNMENT KNOW’S IT AND THE OIL COMPANIES KNOW IT AND THEY ARE SMILING THINKING THERE ISN’T ANYTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT. WELL WE REALLY CAN.
IT’S THIS SIMPLE. THIS CAN REALLY WORK, IF YOU"LL JUST DO YOUR PART.

got this message sent to me and since i dont have everyones email address i thought it would be easier to read on a thread.
This idea makes sense though, it is hard for me to believe that the cost of gas is that high when oil companies are making record-breaking profits. I hope this idea works so i dont have to buy a mo-pad

To bad the government does not sell gas and the oil industry is separate from all government control!
The only reason the government has to investigate the oil industry is for a monopoly since the big oil companies have been combining and consolidating with other companies to have more control over prices.

AMEN,
I think it is funny when people think that the President has any power on jacking up the gas prices.

President Bush is horrible. and if he has NO SAY!!!! then how why would he say that gas prices will go down?????????????????????????????

HM.................. oh yea that was him on the news a few days ago but hey, what does he know huh? He is just the President of over 300 million people.

i am not saying that i agree/support his plans in any way all that i am saying is that he does not have direct control over gas prices.
And since he is the president of over 300 million people and the leader of the greatest nation in the world then he might have some insight into worldly economics and the circumstances that could cause a decrease in gas prices.

Dude, I wouldn't care if it was Richard Nixon in President, or anyone else. The President does not set the gas prices. People that SERIOUSLY believe that really needs to do some research, because saying that the President is the reasoning for Gas Prices makes you look very dumb.

He might have some say on whether he can try and bring it down, but he didn't call them up and ask them to jack it up.

I'm not getting into the politics of it all, let alone needless wars that aid in the escalate the prices, but he DOES dictate a great portion of consumption (military, fbi, cia, the reserves, federal f***ing fuel tax I pay on my big rig trucks). I personally know the extent he plays BECAUSE I RUN A BUSINESS THAT'S DEPENDENT ON THIS VARIABLE COST!

Please tell me when this is gonna happen! 2008 take your pick between two @ss clowns, either McCain or Hillary. Yeah I will agree Bush has been a dissapointment on alot of levels i agree, one thing is at least the 2nd ammendment was safer under him than it would have been Kerry. Kerry was no better an alternative!, the guy is a communist! the point is today we have soaring gas prices, a foreign policy that has been highjacked by Israel (IPAC Israeli Political Action Committee) which leads us to war with nations who have never attacked us and had no intention of doing so and gets our bravest and best killed, and it looks like they are howling for war with Iran who has done nothing except wishes to have peaceful nuclear power. If we attack another peaceful nation like Iran get ready for gas prices to go higher. We have Mexico invading the US and changing words in our national anthem and the language to it, protesting in our streets demanding rights they are not entitled too. The two party system is broken, nothing is getting done and America is suffering because of it.

As far as the President setting gas prices just because he wants them high.... The fact is there are many factors here. Our dependence on foreign oil from the middle east and war in the middle east, the fact we havent had an oil refinery built in this country since the 1970's to get more of our own oil, the fact the way this country taxes and oil gets taxed every step of the way, if we went to a fair tax system instead of the unconstitutional way we are taxed now you would see gas prices fall

well if everyone follows this plan and doesnt buy from Exxon or Mobil then maybe we can really make a difference, cause no matter how much we disagree with goverment actions, we can not directly change them at the moment.

Yes, this is a viable plan cause the majority suppiers DO dictate the price, but it's all about noticable involvement.

it would just require nation wide support for many months on hand because when the companies make 7 million in profits a day they wont notice a decrease unless it is a large scale boycott

This is correct but I thin your time frame is skewed, believe it or not I think 2 weeks should suffice--despite profit margins they'd react by then.

yes its been a long time since a refinary has been built here. We have plenty of oil in the states to supply us for over 50 mores years but they dont want to build another one so the prices can be higher

i am not real sure on this so someone correct me if i am wrong but i think that if they drilled fro oil in alaska that it would only contain enough to last the U.S. for approximatley 4 months. that is what i heard people say during the last election

I just heard an interesting fact... The US has oil off the coast of California, Florida, and Alaska BUT we are prohibited from drilling in these areas.
In Alaska its a wild life reserve

As for Florida Gov. Bush wont let them drill their in fear it will ruin the beaches!!! so instead we will just suffer the prices of gas going up... also California is prohibited for the same reason
