Wow, I thought they neglected making good products to spend more time on advertising and other marketing strategies (like not going bankrupt).

All the money went into "research", didn't you read the ads????? And yes, you can grow mountainous peaks for bi's by just drink your Celltech. They surely didn't blow it buying off Cutler, etc. for endorsements in their 18 page novel like ads.

those were ads? I thought they were the analysis of all their research.
CARB CONTROL NITRO-TECH BITES
-Builds ungodly mass
-cuts up to 79% of your body fat (University of Florida)
-Improves brain function
-Adds 2.6 years to your life span.

They were very tricky ads to make you think it was some top notch research done on the product. Very sneaky, Sis. Hope they go out of business.

I am not a fan of Muscletech products personally, however, in this somewhat dieing sport of pro bodybuilding having a top end supplement company going down is bad for us in many many ways.....
1) Muscletech sponsor many top level athletes-who make their living from these sponsorships, if the sponsorships are not around you will not see as many pro's staying in the sporrt. Some high level, yet not top 3 athletes really may consider their future in this sport when the money train dries up considerably!!
2) They sponsor expo's and competitions etc. Again, without them the prize pool goes down and the draw of top athletes lessens.
3) They pay for big advertising spreads in the magazines, which covers much of the retail cost of the magazines. Without ads (especially big dollar ad contributions like Muscletech) means we will not get the same quality of magazines if the magazines don't get their budgets covered due to losing a big time advertiser.
4) Fact is some of Muscletechs products have been good (overpriced yes) but they HAVE researched and spent money of finding better products out there. Compare this to the quality of products available 20 years ago. Research has brought better supplements into the marketplace.
5) Muscletech does keep many other businesses flourishing because of their product lines..... like Discount Anabolics for one. Obvviously DA does not survive on Muscletech alone, but if you were to ask Chris, I dare say a considerable portion of his sales is Muscletech productline in general.
6) In any industry, less competition means competitors have the opportunity to raise prices slightly-or sometimes a great deal.
Ok, so overall, I would just like to point out that any company, whether they are ok, or fantastic is a blow to an industry. In a niche industry like ours, potentially losing the largest of supplement companies is NOT GOOD. As soon as I read the post, my gut reaction was similar to others here, that of good..... But I realised within a second that this will be disastrous. Comments praising their downfall are made without ealising the potential affect on the whole industry. It WILL affect everyone of us.
Fact is Muscletech were/are a very large company, and they are seen by the public. They advertised everywhere like Times Squae billboards and they supported a lot of top athletes. While there are many many other companies I would place far in front of Muscletech, it remains that anyone who is in bodybuilding knows about Muscletech, and they definitely help put on some high level shows through sponsorship etc....
Thats my 2 cents-I have worked marketing and advertising and studied industry demographics, so the ovrall affect is not positive

Hmmmmm...
I'm still not 100% certain to make of all this.
March kicks off their Anator P70 campaign. You sure of all this?

I did some research in it, and they definitely have some type of bankruptcy hearing before I judge, perhaps though it is one of their shelf companies or a subsidiary....??? Don't know any more than that sorry...

I think some of their finacial problems stemmed from a $12.5 million false advertising judgement from 2003.

I beleive it makes room for more companies to grow. Now instead of muscletech, what if the majority of people start buying Ergopharm, SNS, Designer Supplements products?
Will they not be getting superior products for less?
Will they not feel cheated when they dont lose 30lbs in 4 week or gain 57.543543% more strength on their bench?
Muscletech makes money due to ignorance. If their gone, people will just find another "muscletech" replacement. Company X will then grow just as muscletech did, Company X will sponsor athletes, Company X will sponsor events.
The end of muscletech is not the end of bodybuilding, just stepping away from the era of the ignorant consumer.
Like the dinosaur, muscletech had their time. Its now a new time :)

I say that BSN is trying to squeeze in on the action. They have the biggest endorsements, they have the most eye catching labels and they are sponsoring all the right events and guys....

Hey, why don't we all chip in and buy Muslcetech? I mean we know what problems they have and we can fix them, like more ads than good, solid products ; we can buy them out of bankruptcy and turn them around. I mean we all know what we're talking about and we can force Dinoiii to do the rest, I'm in $32.75 who else want to buy a chunk of Muscletech? Serious somebody call and find out the buyout/bailout on them is and let's set up a site and sell off shares in a legit way. Just an idea, but it's mine don't steal it...cause I'm already in $32.75.
