View Full Version : Too Lazy To Keep a Food Log

Ok, wow there is a lot of college guys or guys who work many hours that they cannot afford the time to make out a food log nor afford to eat healthy b/c it takes too long. I for one know how complex a task this can be and would like to offer suggestions as how to remedy this situation.
(1) Make a list of meals of varying caloric tallies (some low-carb, some low-fat, some mixed etc...)
-- Make 20+ different meals of 200 calories
-- Make meals at 50 calorie intervals therein (i.e.- 250, 300,350,etc...)
-- Place them in a book separating the different meals (say a binder)
(2) Prepare these picking from your aforementioned pre-constructed meals. This can be accomplished the nights before you go to bed, during study breaks, or when you have a few extra minutes in the morning. If you cant seem to get up at the proper time in the a.m., set your alarm accordingly to make the proper meals, set up the proper shakes, pack the RTDs, etc...
(3) If you cannot find time to do the aforementioned suggestion, you may need to sacrifice a post or two online for proper preparation time.
For the most part, you need to consider likely an a.m. snack, lunch, p.m. snack. 3 meals during the daytime.
Your breakfasts and dinners should be ok, or you may have to pack a 4th meal for those staying late at the office or in the library.

Bump up a 200 calorie meal to a 250 calorie meal when you seem to plateau for muscle gain.
Knock a say 500 calorie meal to 450 calories if you seemed to have plateaued for fat loss.
Make sense?

damn you have a lot of drive dinoiii. in med school and you still have the energy to have a big time hobbie(dont know if hobbie is the right word for that) in excercize including all the studying of suppliments and work outs. thats encouraging. but what i was going to ask about.. do you eat so many small meals a day so that you can keep a constant supply of nutrition and keep your blood sugar stable? just wondering cause i eat the normal 3 meals a day plus snack at night. but if i do miss a meal i get shaky.

I like to think I simply practice what I preach is all. Check out my rationale in the Off Topic section as to why endocrinology and metabolism became an interest in the first place.
There is a certain drive toward seeing people reach there goals. I only hate the negative thinking that dictates such thoughts as "I can't do it."
I guess you can say: I try not to live to eat, yet eat to live!!!

What many don't realize is that for many people's "ideal" physique (you know, what you picture either while your lifting or checking yourself out in the mirror - oh come on, some may say they don't do it but I am sure you'll catch em if they are left alone), eating is a FULL-TIME JOB. I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
So how to remedy this while having one of them there full-time jobs already? Well, hell...simply make it as easy as possible is all. Pre-determined meal lists as I described with this post is as simple as it gets. I think you will be content with how smooth it goes once you figure it out like that and start putting those first few meals together. If you have not kept track of calories prior to this point, I am sure you will be surprised you are likely starving yourself or at least your dreamt of new muscle tissue.

my dr. gave me a list of foods to eat which amounted to 1600 to 2000 calories a day. this was for losing weight. i have about 25% body fat. hopefully i can change all this with weight lifting and keeping track of glycemic index. she said of course if i do lift weights im going to need much more protein than what she had listed in this meal planner. i ordered two books the new glucose revolution guide to glycemic index and the low gi diet revolution by the authors that you were talking about dinoiii. soooo i think ill be on the right track.
