I have been training for a bodybuilding competition that is in 6months-JUNE. I would like to loose like 10 pounds of body fat. the only thing that is getting in my way is my Strength levels. I cannot loose any strength that i have gained because of my competitions. I really would like to loose some fat and retain my muscle and strength. I weigh around 236. I am gaining so much muscle that when i train i gain like a pound a day. So how do i get to loose the fat?? just some stomach fat and love handles.

So you are going on stage? I also compete, and what you asking is not very simple to answer. PM me your current stats and such. Don't start cutting yet for this show. Once we asses your bf, body type, and diet, we can see how long you need to diet and how much cardio should be done(if any). I'm very confident that we can reach your competition goals.

What show is it?

It has been almost 6 years now since doing a show myself. There are plenty of nutritional stategies and tricks to play.

Body Recomp. - you have incorporated glycogen supercomp for the strength situation. Perhaps considering the level of a CKD, but it is NOT necessary for only 10 pounds in a 6-month time frame. You may even peak too early.

Yeah... But he'd be gaining about 5 lbs a day. That's how Cutler gets so big.... He stacks cell tech with nitro tech......That must be deadly.

If you are gonna do that bodybuilding show, then don't worry too much about it. If you are not, then post your diet and we can make a few changes.

My diet as of now consists of eating a small bowl of cerial and a protein shake. Then workout and have another shake. Sometimes if i catch my mom at home she'll fix me a sandwich. after a while i'll drink another protein shake if i can. Then have dinner which i try to eat conservingly( sometimes my girlfriend eats more than me). Then I will go drink another shake and then go to bed. I often carry a protein bar around with me if i know i'll need to eat something with alot of protein.

Morning: cerial, Shake
Afternoon: Sandwich, small protein shake sometimes
Between: Protein Shake
Dinner: Diff everytime
Bed: Shake

I will sometimes eat a protein bar somewhere in the day and a shake after i work out.
My biggest problem is not knowing what i should eat through the day, Or have for dinner. It's so hard when my mom cooks, but if i tell her i need to eat something to get to contest shape she will do it. So what do i do?????????????????????????

Right now since you are gaining size still, I would EAT A WHOLE LOT MORE. You're a pretty big boy and I would imagine that you aren't taking in that many calories. Shakes are a good way to make sure you get enought protein, but don't rely on them too heavily. Eat about every three hours. I think I have already posted you what kind of food to be eating.

As far as a contest diet goes, I don't think that you realize what kind of things you will be eating. Everybody has their own opinion on the BEST diet, but if you will pm once more, I would be glad to walk you through it.

I dont recall that you told me what to eat, perhaps you can tell me?? I have a diagram of what my workout as far as what regions i work each day.

Monday: Chest and back
Tuesday: Bi's and Tri's
Wed: Shoulders
Thursday: forearms and legs
Friday: off...

I have my schedule all messed up because i started back with my friend and he wanted to do arms with chest on moday so that messed my schedule all up. Well my widom teeth being taken out didnt help last week. Enough whining though.

Okay.... Here we go. Everthing looks pretty good so far. Make sure that you stick to heavy compound movements and basic exersizes.

As far as dieting now, I would recommend that you eat AT LEAST every 3 hours. The more often that you can eat, the more your metabolism can work in your favor. Any source of lean protein would be fine(chicken, fish, protein powder, even beef) along with some sort of vegetables and a high carb item(I usually use white rice). Post workout your body is really in need, so be sure to get lots of carbs. Simple carbs work much better after workouts, but all carbs do the trick-And ofcourse load up on protein/creatine/glutamine. Later on in the day ease off of the simple carbs and eat complex carbs. A shake before you go to bed with a little glutamine is not a bad idea either.

What supplements are you using?

I am currently using: Muscle milk, No-xlpode, and Cell tech. I sometimes use the cell tech by adding a little to my No-xplode. You know, i have really gained some poundages when using No-xplode i think it's the best supp that i have ever used. I really want to get my hands on some Betalin by BSN!! But do you think the supps i am currently using is sufficient????

NO Explode and Cell-tech? I would most definately drop the cell tech. NO Explode is a great sup and I am glad that you like it. If like the pump that it gives you, try Expand by Dymatize. It's about twice that strong.

Muscle milk is good protein, but it contains a lot of fat. Given all of the shakes that you take in daily, I would say that is the reason for all of the weight gain. Get something else to use that has less fat and more whey. My personal favorite for gaining weight, is Cytogainer by Cytosport. Also you may want to try a little Glutamine, it really helps in recovery.

I thought that the fat content was getting burned. The muscle milk is supposed to be using up fat...well, burning it. I just bought 2 containers of the stuff. So what should i do??

Keep taking it if you like, just use it earlier in the day, so that your body has a better chance to burn it off. I am by no means trying to knock muscle milk. It is a great product.

Well i am getting my fat % on monday. I know it wont be great. I probably might have to go on a cutting cycle earlier than expected if higher than i expect. I hope that my protein dosent make me fatter. Should i be taking a thermo or not??

Wait for BF%.

I don't encourage the use of stimulant-potentiating products as they tend to become inadequate in the long haul due to body's own compensatory effects (i.e.-autoregulation, etc...).

You'd have more long-term effects with re-partitioning agents (on the market now examples: K-R-ALA, coleus - with minor stimulation here, colisolic based products, IL-6, etc...).

thyroid agents are a special subsector of repartitioners through indirect means and the unfortunate part here is the lack of long-term use potential and/or safety (much more involved topic I have written about at length in the past on this forum - do a search).

It is not necessarily the fat content that means as much as macronutrient ratios. More on this is a soon-to-be-released article as well as book.
