what do supplement companies, such as d.a. or gnc do with expired protein, or any other expired product?
if it is like 1 month old it cant really be "bad" cant it?

I have seen the GNC by my house throw it all away. From what I understand, it is actually still good for like 3 months after the exp date. That is what I was told. They don't throw it away until then. They also said once the exp date comes up, they put it on their sale shelf for 3 months, then toss it.

I would taste a small amount. I have had expired protein that tasted NASTY, and some that tasted normal. I think the quality has a lot to do with it.

Again, if looking for rationale for spoiled milk or protein powder, the only way for this to occur is if the container remains NOT air-tight. This allows for microbes to enter the canister or gallon, etc....
Your protein (or milk) will not spontaneously combust.

I have 3 containers of unopened nitro tech nighttime, expiring on 6/24/06. If it's still sealed, would it be possibly safe to use? I keep forgetting to toss it, but that has been my plan. Would the stuff stink or have obvious signs if it is bad, or is a destroyed stomach the only way to really tell?

I know I will get a bashing for this one but I actually used a bottle of protein that was a year out of date and it was fine. It had never been opened though. Use your own judgment. If I did use it, I would try just a little to make sure it is going to be ok
