i know i will probably get ripped apart for this but i eat protein bars, i know they arent the best as far as ingredients go and quality of protein, but the added cals help me out, and there really isnt anything else i could eat between classes when im out of my room for a couple hours. i know one things for sure, im not gonna bring an mrp with me and mix it up with luke warm water from the fountain and force myself to drink that nastyness. and i dont like the taste of warm tuna, tried that, so i eat protein bars

my question is-does anyone have any good protein bar recommendations
right now i eat tri o plex becasue they dont melt, are filling, and taste pretty good, but am always up to try something new

thanks

Trioplex is pretty much as good as it gets when it comes to protein bars. Unless you make your own

Stallion, Stallion, Stallion

I will reserve my ripping comments. I think your intentions are good and the fact that you are attempting to fulfill the challenging lifestyle while in school is VERY commendale. I know of a few other people who have found it quite challenging to catch a break while wading through their school years.

What I want to say though is - try RTD's - hehe ...nah, wait for Steve's and Leonard's drinks...I am gonna be their biggest pusher.

Of course, you want to know about now though. Read your bar ingredients. I do not agree with Tri-O-Plex bars for various reasons, but will not thrash them over the forum for various reasons. #1, I am not certain if Chris sells them or not and it really is never my intention to hamper sales. I would love to see DA thrive.

A couple things when looking at protein bars in general though IF YOU REALLY RESORT TO THEIR USE, be certain to follow

MY TOP 5 CONSIDERATIONS for RESPONSIBLE BAR USE:
(1) Make certain the P:C ratio > 0.5
(2) Make certain it is a quality protein source (NO SOY or Concentrates, good luck btw)
(3) Stear clear of trans-fatty acids (this is usually impossible as of now)
(4) Because they are likely to use carbs (even if in the form of a shit load of sugar alcohols), make certain the fat content is low ... C:F ratio should be > 3.0-3.5
(5) Hopefully, you are NEVER forced to eat them past 7pm (reserve them for the morning, preferably 1st of 2nd meal)
(6) That's all really...good luck meeting these strict requirements...hey there are scientific rationale for each of my top 5 if you ever want to know, simply chime in.

Now, bet you didnt think I would get all the way to the bottom without razzin ya huh?

Once again though, "as good as it gets" will be reserved for the fact that the guy is chef, not someone who cares about body composition. Hey I personally dont want to look like him.

What bars are better than Trioplex?

lol, thanks for the help dinoiii, i was thinking about the rtd's when i posted that, but figured i would have to freeze them in order to keep them cold by the time i would drink them. those are some pretty tough requirements to meet when getting a bar. im starting to lean toward iss pro 42 bar, they look pretty quality as far as bars go, but are quite pricey.

i dont eat them after 7 pm, usually closer to 10-11 am, but im curious to know why you wouldnt want to eat them so late?

maybe this could be something myochem or sns could look into doing? a quality protein bar. lol that would be something new, who cares about the creamy caramel or what ever other b.s. they put into bars to make them taste like candy, just something decent tasting with good ingredients.

I am personally allergic to soy protein so there are hardly any protein bars that I ever eat. The only bar that I ever eat is the Rampage bar.

Keep in mind, I did not make this post to recommend Rampage bars, I simply made it to show why I didn't have further input on different bars as far as taste goes.

I did not see your post before I typed my first reply. A bar is something that we might eventually look into. The market is just so saturated, and as far as talking about the quality of bars, most all of the bars on the market are made in one of three different facilities, so it's kind of like a question one, question all scenario; and if I had to question the other bars that a facility was pumping out, I would not want to use the facility to make one for us.

If enough people request for us to do one, we always listen to our customers. If there are people that read this that want us to do a bar, e-mail me at steve@seriousnutritionsolutions.com and let me know what type of bar you would like to see us do.

Because most bars have pretty high sugar content. But even aside from sugar ALL bars will have a high carb content. You really shouldnt be eating loads of carbs before bed.

i think the bar requirements are good except for one point. no oncentrate.
concentrate is not that bad, and the majority of rtd's have whey concentrate in them. i agree with the no soy, abd everything else, but the concentrate is too much

I usually eat the next nutrion bars by designer whey like the oneway detour bars and they now make them in low sugar so i try to stick with them if i have one

hey guys

i was looking on the back of some bars today and was wondering what is the difference between sugar in the bar and sugar alcohol i see that used in the low carb bars alot

here you go max

There are some claims that sugar alcohols don't have carbs, and therefore don't count; that they can be completely subtracted if listed on the label. This statement is not entirely "false" but it is misleading. Sugar alcohols do have carbs, and approx. 1/2 to 3/4 the calories of regular sugar. They are more slowly and incompletely absorbed from the small intestine than sugar, thus producing a much smaller and slower rise in blood sugar ... and consequently insulin

regular sugar is, well, sugar, i think you know what that is

max von

so then there is really no difference in the sugar content and not really any benefit to it thanks
