Im a big fan of boxing and have been watching it for as long as I can remember.

I was watching it last night and it dawned upon me

1. What is that "gel or grease" they put over cuts and the face? It cant be vasoline can it?

2. Are the Q tips dipped in some type of chemical?

3. The little iron, is it just sort of a cold pack?

Wondering because they need liek 8 stiches sometimes after a fight and 30secs with the cutman you can't even tell they are cut!!

1. What is that "gel or grease" they put over cuts and the face? It cant be vasoline can it? Yes it is. Sometimes they make their own homebrew and add adrenaline hydrochloride (slows bleeding).

2. Are the Q tips dipped in some type of chemical? Could be, perhaps to stop bleeding, speed up clotting, other? Otherwise why use it.

3. The little iron, is it just sort of a cold pack? Yes it is. And it's also use to "spread" the swelling out or away from the eye.

what does teh vasoline mixture do when they spread it around the face? If you notice after they get done filling the cut up w/ it they rub some on the face

They are just spreading out or applying the excess vasoline to vulnerable parts of the face to prevent more cuts. Incase the initial application was wiped off.

Oh i c, I watched an old carolez vs castillo fight and castillo was bleeding all over and 10secs later it was gone. I was amazed!

Vaseline used so punches slide of face and lubricates the skin so it wont cut. Vaseline also coagulates blood. And yes adrenaline tightens the blood vessels and helps with coagulation. They also use Avetin.

P.S. Remember when Tyson ate some ear? You can thank a nice dose of Halotestin for that;)

yes i watched marques vs diaz, very good fight.

I cant stand floyd mayweather, all he does is clinch and then throw a punch on teh break and repeat.

can't believe i missed this thread. I love boxing, I boxed all thorough highschool, and its what lead me to bodybuilding.

A side note on the vassoline, it is absoultly horrible for outdoor fights. My first fight was on the 4th of July, in the 90's and with my face and arms covered in vasoline I coudln't even sweat. I though i was gona die lol

ya to bad they stopped the fight with him and lennox lewis. ide like to see a rematch between those 2.
i think lewis would of lost if it wasnt for the stoppage.
last couple fights his appoinents have quit in the corner.

Margarito having that plaster pares in his hand wraps is no doubt why he beat cotto.
then cotto looses his belts which was a dang shame.
and cotto beat mosley so he'd probably be champ still .

i think oriella cant spell his name but he's a mexican heavy weight, he's a tough dude ,he's going to fight cline soon.I think ariella is going to knock out cline.
