During my recent cycle I've had some good gains..my love of carbs and pasta and my rediculous calorie surplus put on some fat. I'm now a week and a half away from starting PCT. Keto diets look kinda interesting. Would now be a good time to start one?
(My thinking behind this one is that I would maintain my gains and continue to gain lean muscle, fat gain would stop, and I could take advantage of the remainder of my PH cycle combined with ketosis to kick-start fat burning)

I've also heard that keto diets sometimes affect strength. Would this possibly affect progression on my 5x5 program?

Anybody out here have any ideas? ******* has a lot on keto, but the whole site is full of too much conflicting info, idiots, trolls, etc. People here seem to have more sense.

wait till your pct is done to start cutting. PCT is a time to strive to keep your hard earned gains. Sounds to me like you just need to clean up your diet

I actually think my diet was pretty clean..just too much food all around. (such as eating whole boxes of whole-wheat pasta in one meal:eek:) I guess I wasn't considering this an all-out "cut"..just a reduction in calories (still eating a surplus) and more of a diet re-structuring. From what I am understanding keto is a good recomp diet. Maybe I'm way off. That's why I'm askin. Should I hold off on the keto diet completely til after PCT..or start now and then reduce my calories to a deficit AFTER my PCT?

the first few weeks of any keto/low carb diet is going to effect energy....which rolls down hill to lowered strength. however, i think it is a good idea to reduce some cals after the cycle, maybe 1 week into pct. the reason for that is, most eat a lot during cycle and continue to eat that amount even after the extra hormones have left, it then is left for fat
