I need to gain weight. simply put. Im 155ish right now at 5'8" and am starting a PH cycle in the next week or so.. once they arrive.

Im in the Army, so this kinda hurts my diet.. on top of that im in iraq. so food.. is harder to come by then id like. i eat about 4 times a day, + a shake (or two) and a powerbar. The food im eating isnt the highest quality, nor the most healthy. But i get what i can.

The worst thing is im unable to see the amount of Cals, Carbs, Protine that this food actually contains! so.. basically what im looking for.. i guess are some siguestions of how to improve my diet to gain mass... hopefully lean mass..

Im 21 years young and have the motabalism like a 12 year old girl. (some of you are jelous right now :o but i hate it! I can eat all day. Does this mean i can cram my mouth full of anything, or should it all still be good complex carbs, good protine, low fat, etc foods?

I do patrols, which means i spend 8+ hours away from the chow hall :x . i usually bring a 'to-go' plate with me but that usually gets gobbled up the first hour or so. So wuld it be good idea to consume MRE's? (high fat, high Cals, high protine) everyhting an ACTIVE soldier needs... yah but i sit in a HMMV for hours on end so it would make me fat yeah?

i eat chicken as often as i can, along with beef. I try to steer clear from the fatty line in the chow hall, like the hamburgers and stuff. is this that important since im trying to gain weight and have a quick metabolism? Im not too into Veggies, but ill eat some green kinds, haha like brocoli i hear raises your natural test levles.

Im diet retarted :( basically.. and just asking to pick someones brain.

Thanks!

if i were you i would say heck ya to the MRE's. i read on one of them a while back (dont know how accurate this is), but it said they had somewhere around 4K-5K calories apiece. Since you have a uber metabolism, i dont see you shouldn't eat these 3-4 x per day, as well as a buttload of protein. i did not see anything about you lifting, but i am assuming you do. (when you get a chance. i know you are busy). free weights are the best mass builders. focus on squat, dead lift, bench. for an added challenge use dumbells for bench (and all variations of bench), hope this helps!

Rather than calorie count, I would go to the PX and load up on Peanut Butter, Tuna cans, oatmeal... and try to get in good with the mess guys and get some loaves of wheat bread, chicken left overs and eat whenever you aren't doing something. That's what I did when I was deployed.

thye are packed with cals, 2.5-3k with lots of protine but heavy amounts of fat and sat fat. i dont really want to dirty bulk if i can advoid it. Currentally im eating about 3 per week when i must. do you think my metabolism will be able keep up with high fatty foods?

i think it should be able to. i have several hardgainers friends who lift pretty hard and i cant eat half of what they do or else i will blow up like a balloon. but then again i am not a hardgainer. my suggestion would be to try it for a little while. if you do start noticing extra fat, then you know it didnt work and your body will burn it off in a few weeks. if your body does like mre's, then it would be that much more muscle mass. hope it works out for ya!
