Ya know I like your choices - this way you can control your carb intake very precisely.

Tell us how you plan on using them stallion!

First of all you have 3 different proteins, for what times are you planning on using them. Also don't forget to fill us in on the raspberry taste of GF Pro!

I think Zero Carb is good as far as macros are concerned. I am not all that crazy about chocolate taste - how's the vanilla though?

let me know how you like it flavorwise. I've heard mostly good about it. I tried navel and, if you like peach, it might be a good idea. I happen to HATE peach though so i wasnt too impressed. I got it free though, I cant complain

i too got it free, and would suggest to stay away from roadside lemonade, it is pretty bitter and artificial tasting, crystal sky was really koolaid like, if you like koolaid, you will like it, im just not a huge fan, but it definitely wasnt horrilbe

Nectar is a WPI so I much prefer that to bulk 5 lb. containers which are predominantly whey concentrate.

As for Nectar's taste, I have liked all of them that I have tried. I like the Lemonade but it is one of those flavors that you would either love it or hate it.

right. for a nighttime blend i really like 1.5 scoops Muscletech nitrotech pm. Its not bad on price and a good supplement actually. Either that or Micellar by VPX i've had great results with, but harder to drink than nitropm

If you were going to miss a meal or somethign you could take it as a MRP since its a slow release protein. I just use it for before bed though. I usually throw 1/2 scoop WPI in the mix if i havent had a meal in a while

italionstallionl
January 5th, 2005, 09:42 AM
do you mix it with milk before bed? i usually do, but more often than not i will do 4 oz water 4 oz milk and a little over a scoop of nitro pm or micellar matrix by iss

If I'm bulking or maintaining I'll mix with skim milk. If I'm cutting I'll mix it with water. Naturally both taste better in milk

That is correct. For a night time protein, try to use a Miccellear Casein protein, or you can mix it up and some nights do a shake and some nights do cottage cheese.

BTW.... Everyone knows I do not knock any company, so this is nothing directly against Muscletech. The distinct problem that I have with Nitro Tech Nighttime is that it contains creatine. I am a firm believer that creatine needs to be cycled and for those choosing to use creatine, there are more advanced forms available than monohydrate. To further my distaste for this product, there are only 29 servings of 20 grams of protein per serving per container. Therefore, if you wanted to get 50 grams per bed time, that would be 2 and a half scoops, so the container would only last you for 11 to 12 days. That is almost 3.00 per shake.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I am just trying to be helpful in pointing that out about Nitro Tech Nighttime. We do not even make any proteins so it is not about competition or anything, just principle.

I personally believe that night time shakes should be mixed with water in order to avoid all sugars possible before bedtime. For some people with excellent metabolisms, it will not matter; for me, even though I have a great metabolism, sugar still puts fat on me, especially at night.

(Alternatively, there are low carb milks out there, but in my opinion, they contain too much saturated fat for night time use.)

My attitude towards bulking is to do what I can to add all size possible, but to take steps to avoid things that I know will just add body-fat.

i agree, and notice how you say if you wanted 50 grams of protein before bed....
i usually do about 30, how many do you recommend

italionstallionl
January 5th, 2005, 02:19 PM
back to max's question, it is only an isolate, so it contains a little more protein per gram than concentrate, and more protein per calorie than the typical concentrate.

I personally do 50 myself, but it all really depends on individual needs.

60 grams x 3x's after 7pm and I was asking those familiar with my posts to recall....

even the potential for another in the overnight hours (~20-40 grams though)

before bed i have been mixing up fat free yogurt with skim milk and some protien would that have to much sugar in it i mean there is none in the skim milk very little in my protien and some in the yogurt

max von

italionstallionl

i might be wrong but i think there is something lik 12 grams in the milk, and 12-14 in the yogurt, so there would be a fair amount of sugar before bed. i would probably cut out one of the two if i was you, if not both.

cottage cheese would be a good sub to the yogurt-3 grams of sugar, and the carb countdown milk people were talking about (i just got some, expensive) has 3 grams of sugar.

if you dont want to shell out the extra cash you could just mix with water or something like half milk half water

SNS8778
January 6th, 2005, 10:17 AM
The average 8 ounce cup of skim milk has 12 grams of sugar. That amount can vary slightly by brand. I personally would avoid that at bedtime.

Fat-free yogurt can vary wildly pertaining to the grams of sugar depending on which brand you use.

Carb Countdown milk is expensive. It tastes okay, but it still has 3 grams of sugar and all just comes down to if you want to put the money into it or not.

I prefer just to mix a micellear casein shake with water or to eat a good amount of cottage cheese before bed.

Some people will argue that for those with a good metabolism, taking in 12 grams of sugar before bedtime will not matter; I have a good metabolism myself and argue that it does because any way you want to look at it, it is still pointless sugar.

I hope that information proves helpful.

I think Micellar shakes can get pretty pricy as well.

And many would have at least 1-3 grams of Sugar/Carbs in them anyway, especially b/c you don't just normally have one scoop. You are likely going to talk cost effective though Steve and I agree a protein shake is more economical while doing the exact same muscle-sparing thing while most likely providing more protein per serving.

Bottom Line: Rob, cheat, and steal guys to get money for those shakes. They are still the economic virtue of our lifestyle.
