Depends on my goals. When training specifically for strength and size, I use a combo. I do not use as much as many people do, because I feel there is no need to.
When I am dieting I have a PWO regimen that I do that involves neither, but it is rather detailed and individualized.

any way you could give a little detail about what the low gi idea is. i always heard go high to spike insulin and get everything to your muscles as fast as possible

causing a spike in your insulin causes you metabolism to slow down that way all the nutients that you just put into you body get absorbed slowly and are not wasted hope that helps

The guy who says "It depends!"

Italn, I went low GI for a period of about 4 months around a year ago. I was getting great results and staying really lean. I loved it. Unfortunately I got seriously injured and my training cam to an abrupt halt. I've been working again only since about mid October, getting great gains. I ran high GI from october until early december. I started using oats only because i ran out of dextrose. Then (on another board i wont post here) a few of the guys there helped get me back into low GI. I've been getting leaner gains lately and lost an inch or so in my belt without really tweaking my diet much. Its making more and more sense to me lately. I'll be staying low GI from now on.
Again its just what works for me, it might not be perfect of everyone. However I do think that EVERYONE should give it a try for at least a month or two. Trial and error is the only way to find what works. Try everything then sort the good from the bad!

thats one nice thing about low GI is you can mix it up.
These are some thing's I've done:
-Blend oats in a coffee grinder til they are powder and throw it right into your post workout shake. (Blending the oats slightly increases thier GI)
-Just having oatmeal (plain or with splenda) with my shake
-Devouring two peices of wheat bread plain while drinking my protein shake (usually not a problem since working out makes me HUNGRY!)
-Devouring a whole wheat bagel plain while drinking my protein shake
-Putting margarine on wheat toast or a toasted bagel
-Having brown rice.
I know alot of people are going to come back with the "fats slowing absorbtion" but I've done alot of research and havent found anything proving that....

i love brown rice, but it takes 30 min to cook it, so by the time i get back to my room get to the local kitchen and cook it we're loookin at a good hour, maybe more, isnt that a little too long to wait to get the carbs back in your system?
