Anyone try Epovar (by Fizogen) for lactic acid buffering before running? After a mile I get a very bad lactic acid type buildup in my Soleus. I am thinking of trying Epovar and wonder if anyone else had, or had any good solutions for lactic acid buffering in endurance type of workouts.

I am also interested in this product. This is a quote from another forum about epovar:
"...So the addition of mag orotate has been documented to improve recovery to a certain degree...Lowered CK catalytic concentration indicates less stress encountered by muscle tissue which would losely corelate with the lowered cortisol levels seen in the test group. All good news...
The second study documents the "scavaging" benifits of mag orotate...
As far as the other ingredients, the research seems a bit less convincing..."
The main ingredient is Mag Orotate. If you research this product, you will then get a better idea of how effective this product is. Hope this helps.

Well since my soleus is in pain after every 4 mile jog which I do every other day, I will give this stuff a try. Have been getting by with emergen"C" powder which has electroltyes.
This has got to be the most expensive magnesium ever. Will let you guys know if it works any better than emergenC.

Well I used it before running, and didn't notice to much difference the first time with regard to lactic acid buildup. The humidity was wacked off the chart today though. Will see if recovery is any better post run in a few hours or if the soleus is sore in the morning.
Combined Epovar with Emeregency before run.

OK did a lot better running today. Not too much lactic acid type pain in the soleus and achillies at all, and the humidity was reasonable for hawaii, so it was the most comfortable run I had in a while. I did however take a few days to rest up my tendons as my last time running at the track was 4 days ago so that helped to I am sure.
Did epovar and emergenC with a Glucophase capsule 30 minutes before the run. Gonna go stretch on that curved calf block I got also. I think the supps are helping.
If the mods want to move this thread to reviews that would be great.

OK the runs at the track are getting longer and more pain free but I am not sure if it is the Epovar or cutting the frequency back to every third or fourth day. Really don't want to cut out the epovar for test purposes just to find out if the pain returns/increases yet because everything is progressing at a good pace.
Also signed up for a new gym with MORE GIRLS! Plus I can walk there in 4 minutes, run in two.

Yesterday I tried upping the frequency of running at the track to every other day again with mixed results. Left soleus :OK Right soleus: OWWWW! Will stick to every third day for my track running for a while. I guess it really helps to put TIME between long runs for us 41 year old "over the hill" runners.

Had to take the day off from working out to go shopping and clean up around the house and work on tax papers.
Felt like Epovar might have helped with shopping by the time I hit Walmart.

Aloha!
Well I had a pretty crappy running day today with regard to my soleus muscle. My right side only hurts around the ankle. I am going to try more stretching pre run AND some seated calf raises (which I don't usually do) to strengthen the muscle. I did have a 15 year old injury around there and it may need some serious shoring up. Cardio wise I have no problem running forever, but my old torn up right ankle muscle just can't take the pounding yet.
I am hopeful that the seated calf raise machine will help shore up the muscle. I read that type of machine works on the soleus.
A late offshore breeze seemed to blow in hot salty stagnant sea air which did not help either.
Anyway the Epovar seems to help with cardio endurance, but my right ankle may be beyond help.

OK GREAT running day today. FINALLY! Kicked ass and pain was under control which I can only contribute to : STRETCHING on that curved calf stretching block I mentioned a ways back for five minutes before heading out to the old Kona airport jogging track. Maybe I can focus more on cardio now and less on the explosions of pain in my ankles and soleus. Did Epovar and Emergen-C as well as Hot Rox pre run. Stretching on that curved calf stretcher was the ticket though.
I found a bottle of Magnesium Asporotate on a web site for only $5.75 for 60 caps which is WAY lower $ than Epovar. Is that the same as Magnesium Orotate in Epovar?

Well pretty decent running day today. The usual ankle pains. What I have not totally figured out is how come it hurts WAY more about ten seconds after i stop running a walk for a short distance. Maybe it has something to do with pain receptors functioning. It hurts more to walk than run.
I KNOW what you are going to say : RUN DON'T WALK. That was a funny movie and a cood ventures riff. I would really like to figure this one out.

Hey can some moderator please move this thread to reviews. I started this epovar thread in this section cause I just wanted info on the supp but wound up doing a review which is still in progress.
Thanx.

Did Epovar and Lipo6 before cardio on a stationary bike for 2 hours. One hour recumbant bike, one hour regular sit on the top type bike. Felt like I could go forever, but I sure I would just be burning muscle after 2 hours of cardio.
Anyway without the ankles blowing up when I run, caradio is no problemo.
Will run tommorow and see how that goes.

Ok went running, cardio was great no problem. Ankle pain was less than usual and within tolerance but my SHIN was definately in pain. It is always something holding me back from pain free running. First time I recall shin problems recently.
Anybody know any shin stretches or excersizes?

OK so far my test has indicated that it does help a bit with cardio endurance, but not so much as far as I can tell with regard to lactic acid buffering.
Also Soloray sells magnesium Asporotate for like $7 per bottle, which is a hell of a lot cheaper than Epovar, which has DiArginine Malate and Potassium Asporotate added. Soloray also sell Potasium Asporoate.
Any way this Epovar / test thread will probably continue for a while as my cardio and running progress until the bottle is consumed.

Had a pretty good run last night. Chased a pretty young high school girl around the jogging track. Epovar does seemed to have helped cardio, and my ankles are slowly improving over time. Didn't even take a day off between jogging days this time. This should help with my overall BF% reduction goals.
I hope next time i can keep up with that high school chick!
