View Full Version : X-Factor/Body Octane Log

August 14th, 2005, 06:30 PM
I started this on August 10th on another forum. I decided I want to keep it in here also since many of the members here have tried X-Factor(and kept some good logs) and I may have some questions or need some advice with it later(hoping you guys can help me out). I am going to copy and paste the first three days and then keep the rest of the log on here.

August 10th
Tomorrow, I am going to begin a 50 day X-Factor/Body Octane log. I am mid-bulk at the moment and will be continuing to bulk throughout the trial. This is not my first time using Body Octane but will be my first experience with X-Factor. After all the positive feedback I've seen on here about X-Factor, I decided I have to give it a try.
Diet:
I will be taking in approximately 3500 calories daily(Maintenance for me is around 2800).
- 500g carbs
- 250g protein
- 55g fat
Supplementation:
Supplements that I take currently that I will stop taking for the trial(because of X-Factor):
- Sesathin
- Fish Oil
- Glucosamine
- Chondroitin
- MSM
- Celadrin
Note: I will also be stopping creatine for at least the first half of the trial(not because of X-Factor). I am not someone who believes in cycling creatine but I have been taking some form of creatine for at least the past two years straight in my estimation. I think at some point it may be beneficial to take a short break and I figure now is as good a time as any. I may start taking creatine again during the second half of the trial(I'm leaning towards Green Bulge), but am not sure yet.
Supplements that I take currently that I will be continuing during the trial:
- Whey
- Multi
- Vitamin E
- Vitamin C
- Diphenhydramine HCL (sleep aid - taken occasionally)
- Insopro-R(R-ALA)
- ZMA
- Amp(occassionally)
Day 1(August 11) Measurements:
Height: 5 feet 9 inches
Weight: 180.5 lbs.
Chest: 41.5 inches
Waist: 34.75
Bicep(unflexed): 13.75
Bicep(flexed): 16.25
Neck: 16
Training:
I workout at my house only using free weights. It's not that I only like using free weights; it's just that's all I have available to me here. Due to a history of knee injuries(one of them fairly recent), I will only be working out my upper body through this trial. The type of training I do at this time is nothing special(60-75 seconds between sets; 2-3 minutes between exercises). I am limited to walking on the treadmill at 3.5-4.0 mph for cardio due to my knee. I often do some cardio on off days and occassionally following weight training sessions. The amount of cardio I do will be regulated by how my knees feel. Due to the increased soreness of X-Factor, cardio may be cut fairly short later on.
Here are the recent weights I've used on some of the exercises I will be performing throughout the trial. I will give this same info at the end of trial to gauge strength gains:
Barbell Bench Press: 220 lbs x 12, 9, 7 reps
Incline Dumbbell Bench Press: 80 x 11, 9, 7
Barbell Curl: 120 x 11, 8, 6
Barbell Military Press: 135 x 12, 10, 8
Seated Dumbbell Shrugs: 90 x 12, 9, 7
Dumbbell Lateral Raise: 30 x 11, 8, 6
Barbell Reverse Grip Bench Press: 160 x 11, 9, 7
Background:
I have been weight training for the past four years. During most of that period, I was training mainly as a strength athlete for college baseball. It's not that I didn't care how my body looked, it's just that strength was my major focus during that time. I don't think I had ever done a set of more than 6 reps until April of this year when I began bodybuilding(when baseball ended). I graduated in May with a BS in Accounting and I am now working as an accountant. Obviously, since I work as an accountant from 9am-5pm Monday through Friday, I no longer have a whole lot of physical activity outside of training. I'm not sure if I would be giving X-Factor a try if my daily life was still full of physical activity(due to the increased soreness), so I think I am in a good spot at this time to give this a run.
Dosages:
- Body Octane will be taken first thing in the morning and 30 minutes preworkout.
- I have the new X-Factor(250 mg pills). I have decided to start out taking four daily. The approximate times I will take a pill each day are 6am, noon, 5pm, and 9pm. I usually train around 6:30pm. If there are better times to take it each day, please let me know.

August 11 (First day)
Today was my first day on the stack. I trained traps/abs/forearms. There is nothing of interest to report yet. Tomorrow is an off day and will just be some cardio.

August 14th, 2005, 06:47 PM
August 12 (Second day)
I did 45 minutes of cardio today. There is nothing special to report yet.

August 13 (Third day)
Weight: 181
Great biceps/delts workout today. Every exercise went up at least one rep. This is probably attributed more to the Body Octane at this point IMO. I also haven't noticed any out of the ordinary soreness or anything like that. I did 15 minutes of cardio after my workout and during the last few minutes I got extremely warm and felt like I had a sharp rise in body temperature. I also began sweating very heavily. It was odd but the feeling quickly subsided when I got off the treadmill.

Hey man looking good, it will be interesting to see this x factor/ body octane combo since most x factor logs are just run straight x factor

Thanks, Trans. I also have before pictures that I can post on here(I will be taking after pictures and possibly Day 25 pics if I see significant changes by then). I read the directions in the FAQ on how to post pics and don't really understand them(I'm not very computer savvy), so if anyone can give me some dumbed down directions I will post them on here. Anyway, here is my update for today.
Day 4 (Today)
I didn't expect to feel any effects from X-Factor this early, but there was definitely an abnormal amount of soreness in my biceps today. They also feel a little fuller. I am not positive this is from X-Factor, but I am not sure what else to attribute it to. Anyway, the knees are still feeling pretty good along with all other joints.
Chest/triceps training went very well today. I did not have gains in every exercise like yesterday, but I did have at least one rep gains in most of them. I did 15 minutes of cardio postworkout again and felt the same sort of increased body heat and sweating that I felt yesterday. I did notice a small weird pain in the top of my foot during cardio, but it was no more than an annoyance.
Question: Does anyone know of any OTC pain relievers that I can use that are okay to take with X-Factor(not anti-inflammatories, etc.)? I have not needed any yet, but I'm not sure what to do if I get a bad headache or some joint pain later on? I will just put up with it if I have to, but if I have any options I would like to know what they are.

Thanks for the support stallion.
Good News:
I wouldn't post this if I wasn't going to post pictures up later on to back it up(if someone tells me how) because I wouldn't expect you guys to believe it. My biceps have grown 1/2 inch unflexed and 1/4 inch flexed already. After I got home from work and took off my work clothes I noticed how big my arms looked in the mirror. I asked my girlfriend if they looked bigger and she agreed so we measured them. 14.25 unflexed and 16.5 flexed(don't worry, it was the same tape measure as before).
Bad News:
I have been having pretty bad muscle pains in my upper right thigh all day. If anyone can help me out with my question from yesterday I would really appreciate it.
I'll update later after I lift.
dwm230000
August 15th, 2005, 08:23 PM
Day 5
I lifted back today and had another great workout. I very rarely get a good pump in my back but the pump I had today was very solid. All exercises went up at least one rep. I usually don't lift three days in a row(especially when I'm only doing upper body) but I was pretty fired up after measuring my arms so I gave it a go. I also did 15 minutes of cardio again and the insane sweating continued. My thigh does feel a lot better right now so maybe the activity helped it some. There was also no pain in my foot today.
Notes: I will be taking a complete off day tomorrow(no lifting, no cardio) as I feel I need it after the last three days. I will still give an update(weight, etc.). I have decided to also take pics and measurements at the halfway point, day 25, before I add creatine back to the mix.

Thank you, Max. Your logs have been very good and are one of the reasons I decided to give X-Factor a try. Do you have any idea what I can take(over the counter) for pain relief?

Day 6 (OFF DAY)
Weight: 182.5 lbs
Side effects I'm noticing(or not noticing):
- My arms, back, and chest feel pumped throughout the entire day. I am definitely feeling and looking fuller.
- My thighs are still killing me. The pain comes and goes. When it comes, the only thing that seems to help is walking around. I personally believe it has something to do with circulation, but there is no way of knowing for sure. I am able to deal with it throughout the day, but it does make it difficult to get to sleep. I will probably have to take a pain reliever at night if it persists, but will try to keep the pain reliever use to a minimum.
- There is a lot of sweating during activity.
- Sleeping patterns have been irregular. I am waking up a lot during the night, but was not having trouble getting back to sleep until my legs started hurting. I am also sweating very much when sleeping.
- My joints feel fine so far. Interestingly, my knees(the one thing I was really worried about going into this) have had no abnormal pain whatsoever.
- I have not experienced any X-Factor burps which I have heard some people mention having. If they are anything like fish oil burps I am glad I am not experiencing them.
Well, that's all that's coming to my mind right now. If I think off anything else, I will add it in tonight.

well unfortunetly and over the counter product that is anti-inflammatory you need to MINIMIZE. I bold that cause every one gets hung up on this. If you occasionally use these products you will be fine. Its the everyday use that will hinder your gains, now that being said what will hinder your gains worse a splitting headache or the occasionl OTC pain releiver.

Good points, Max. Thanks for the advice.
Day 7
Weight: 182
Great traps/abs/forearms workout. Productive workouts with moderate strength increases seem to have become the norm with this stack. My legs have also had no pain today which I am very happy about. Weight is down 1/2 pound from yesterday which sucks. If it continues to drop I will increase my calories to 3800-4000.
I think I am going to add in Green Bulge in the last 25 days of the stack(6 pills daily). What do you guys think?

Green Bulge it is then!
As far as my legs, they are feeling fine now and I'm hoping that continues. I have yet to take a pain reliever during the trial.
Day 8
Weight: 182
Biceps/delts workout went great. Today was the first time I could feel increased soreness during and between sets. It kind of freaked me out for a second before I realized what it was. During rep 3 or 4 on the third set of my first exercise my biceps started burning like I had taken the set to failure. I thought I was going to have to stop but the next rep went up very easily and burned even more and so did the rep after that. It felt weird but by the end of the workout I was looking forward to it with each set. I definitely felt it in my biceps more than in my delts, but the feeling was still noticeable in my delts. I am curious as to what the soreness will be like tomorrow. The only time during this trial that I have felt an increase in DOMS the next day was in my biceps.
If my weight drops or goes unchanged again tomorrow I am going to up my calories to 3800. I am not really worried about putting on a little fat during this trial. I want to pack on some mass and with mass will come at least a little fat no matter how clean I eat. That's just the way it is.

August 19th, 2005, 06:24 PM
Day 9
Weight: 182.5 (I am going to up the calories to 3800 anyway.)
No DOMS at all today. I don't really know if that's good or bad, though. I had a very good chest/triceps workout. My flat bench press finally increased which seemed to be the only thing lagging as far as strength gains. I did have the soreness during the workout again. It was not as extreme as my biceps felt yesterday but was definitely there. Tomorrow will primarily be an off day. For some reason my knees are feeling incredibly good so I may attempt a few very light squats and calf raises(nothing major though).

Day 11
Weight: 183
Good back workout and definite soreness during and between sets. Weight is slowly increasing which I am pleased with. My knees are not feeling as good as they have been(probably because the X-Factor is starting to kick in) which I expected. They were not bad enough that I had to cut cardio short or anything but I am starting to notice some pain.

Obviously, it is impossible for me to pinpoint what part of my results have been from Body Octane. But, I have used Body Octane in the past so I know what it has done for me before. Based on that, I would say the majority of my strength fains thus far have been from Body Octane. I definitely have not experienced any huge strength gains so far, but my strength is increasing gradually with each workout. Also, Body Octane really seems to make the last few sets of my workout go much better than normal. I do not feel as tired when my workout is coming to an end, just as I did the last time I used Body Octane.

Weight: 183.25
Delts/biceps today. The workout soreness I felt in my delts today caught up to what I have been feeling in my biceps. Hopefully that continues in tomorrow's chest/triceps workout. No DOMS at all from yesterday's back workout. I am very happy that I am feeling the soreness effects(while working out) of X-Factor this early in the cycle. I didn't expect to feel anything for at least two weeks. It definitely gives an added motivation to feel something working when lifting.

Chest/triceps workout. The soreness in my triceps was much more pronounced today than it has been. No DOMS from yesterday's workout at all. I got a really bad calf in my cramp after I got out of the shower tonight. Don't know exactly why, but thought it was worthy of noting in case anything of that sort continues.
If there is anything else that you guys who are reading this would like me to report on a day-to-day basis then let me know in here. I am pretty much just keeping the daily updates confined to my weight gain/loss and whatever soreness or DOMS I am feeling. I will be posting my measurements on days 25 and 50 along with the weights I am using on my lifts at those intervals. I have taken before pics and I will be taking Day 25 and Day 50 pics. I bumped the calories up to 4500. My endurance while lifting has been great. I think this mainly due to the Body Octane. Besides lifting, I am not doing a whole lot else that is physically active, due to way my knees feel, so I can't really comment on how this stack has affected endurance in other areas.

Side Effects, Overall Impressions, and other random shit:
I have mentioned most of the side effects and other random shit throughout the log but I wil try to sum them up here:
-I had some leg pains in my thighs early on that may have been circulation related but have not been a problem for awhile now.
-There has been a noticeable rise in body heat especially during activity. I sweat buckets during every physical activity and feel warmer throughout the day. I also am sweating a lot at night.
-My sleeping patterns have been affected. I wake up more during the night than I normally would. I don't usually have trouble getting back to sleep, though, so I can't say that it has stopped me from getting a "good night's sleep" most nights.
-I am having a lot of pain in my knees during physical activity which is pretty much what I expected. It has affected cardio a little as of late. I have also had some pain in my wrists during forearm exercises which I believe is a result of the X-Factor.
-I am having a lot of trouble gaining weight. I am going to try to fix that by continuing the 4500 calories a day. Maintenance for me is around 2800.
-I cannot say I am disappointed with the first 25 days but I cannot say I am really satisfied either. I'm not exactly sure what I expected from the first half of the trial, but I am definitely hoping and expecting the second half to go better.
-My endurance while lifting is definitely better than normal. I would definitely credit this to Body Octane.
-My first bottles of X-Factor and Body Octane ran out last night during my last servings of each, so I know I have been dosing everything properly. I will be adding in Green Bulge for the rest of the trial(starting today). I am hoping that the addition of Green Bulge will really help my strength gains through the next 25 days.
-I have mentioned all the workout soreness and DOMS I have had each day throughout the trial and will continue to do that.
-The pumps on this stack are ridiculous. They last so long after my workout that they are kind of annoying. My muscles definitely feel fuller throughout the day also.
Well, I think that about sums it up. If I think of anything else I'll add it in later.

I hear this from time to time. If I had to guess, it would be due to an increase in androgen receptor density (T sensitivity), not actual increases in testosterone levels..

Day 44
Weight: 186.75
Good back workout. Very intense soreness. There is one thing I just realized I forgot to mention a little earlier in the log. Around a week ago I changed my training. I am now performing the same exercises at much higher reps with lighter weights. The reason for this is that I seem to get a much more intense soreness in my muscles with higher reps. From what I can tell so far, the amount of soreness I feel while lifting has had a lot to do with my muscle growth while on X-Factor. The reason I came to this conclusion is because my biceps have grown at a much faster rate than the rest of my upper body and they seem to consistently get a more intense soreness every time I lift than any other muscle group has so far. I am basically chasing the soreness every time I lift at this point. The higher reps also seem to be easier on my joints while lifting.
The only problem with this is that it will make my strength numbers pretty useless at the end of the trial because they will be pretty difficult to compare at different rep ranges :(. But I do think the measurements and pics are the most important results of this trial, so I don't think the change in training is that big of a deal.

How is the body octane working for you with the x-factor, As I read your log I am really interested in this combination
You asked me that earlier in the log and this is what I answered.
The only thing that has changed is that I can't really tell as much about my strength gains. It is hard to measure strength gains with different rep ranges especially while my body is adapting to the higher rep range. Like I said earlier, it is hard to distinguish between the effects of both products. Sorry that I cannot help more.
