Just wondering what everyones input is on this besides mine:
My friend asked how to work out her glutes. She is kinda overweight, 19, and of course female.
Seeing everyones input on this would greatly be appreciated.

Send her over, I'll work her glutes ;)
Squats, lunges, rear lunges, and Donkey kickbacks are probably the way to go

I'd also suggest that on the kneeling (donkey?) kickbacks, she use light leg weights after she gets used to the exercise. In doing kneeling kickbacks, it's better to kick back & up, instead of just a straight kickback. She should concentrate on contracting the glute muscle when she does this. Additionally, have her put on leg weights & lay face down on a bench & curl her legs up behind her, squeezing her glutes with each repetition. As an aid to this exercise, I'd suggest placing a body ball at the end of the bench for her to rest her knees on. This seems to increase the productivity of the exericse. She can also take a small dumbbell & hold it between her feet as she does this exercise if she wants to do a heavier weight. But she will need to make sure that she has a spotter to place the dumbbell between her feet, watch to make sure it doesn't slip & to remove it when she's thru with the set.
